Christmas Tree Q

Good morning ladies!

Random question: When do you take down your Christmas tree? After Christmas, or after New Years?

 That is all. =)

Re: Christmas Tree Q

  • We didn't put up a tree this year, but when we do it stays up until after New Years.  After all the work that goes into it, I like to enjoy it for at least a month.  It's usually up on Thanksgiving weekend and comes down after New Years (whenever I find the motivation to take it down!).
  • Most christians keep them up uh until Epiphany, jan 6th.

  • Anytime after the New Year.  I try to wait until Epiphany, but if it is too sad looking it comes down sooner.
  • My official answer is Epiphany, but I am often lazy and in denial that Christmas is over so it sometimes stays up a few extra days past that.

  • We bought our tree yesterday, so that sucker might stay up til Valentine's Day if it stays fresh that long.  I don't have a set date - it is always up past Xmas and usually til the next year.  I don't really care.  It's a tree - it looks pretty and smells great.  When those two things start fading, off to the dumpster it goes.

  • I'm a Christian, and I've never heard of Epiphany.  I just had to Google it.  Anyway, I keep it up until have New Years, unless it just looks awful.
  • We take ours down after New Year's :-)

My mom made a Valentine's Day tree one year. She put white, red, and pink ornaments all over it and a bunch of hearts and such. Nice idea, but not so pretty on a brown tree.

OP-after new year's whenever i have the time. Usually the first Saturday after NY.

Thank you Kim, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm over here laughing like WTH is epiphany. I haven't googled yet, but I'm on my way.

to answer the question: I'm keeping that baby up until it looks horrible. I paid a pretty penny, and I'm getting my money's worth out of that 9ft tree!

Me too!  I must have been snoozing in Sunday school when we were learning about that.  Embarrassed

I have no set date to take it down, but it's usually sometime after Christmas & before New Years.  I don't teach that week, so I usually have extra time for things like that.

This year, my sister will be visiting that week so I'm not sure if I'll take it down before she leaves or not.

So I'm back looking at this and that bold comes across as snarky? It is totally a typo from my phone.  I'm probably the only one that noticed it but I had initially said "up through" then changed it to "up until" and didn't delete 2 letters for some reason.  I hereby quit posting from my phone and that is all.  Carry on... :)

  • I normally take it down after New Years. I love having my tree up so I am sad when I have to take it down.

When H and I were long distance in college he bought me a tree as a surprise and put it up in his apartment. I came home during spring break in March and the tree was still up. By that point he was so embarrassed to take it to the dumpster we snuck it out at 2AM one night. To this day he claims that Christmas trees are a rip-off (he's Jewish) and that he wanted to get his money's worth. I know he was just being lazy!

  • Last year I took it down I think a week after New Years. I knew about an 6th but never knew what the day is called lol
