I just wanted to introduce myself - I've been lurking for about a month or so and wanted to finally try to be part of the group! My name is Laura and I just moved to Portland in July with my husband, from NY. I was mildly involved on The Knot in NY back in the day, but am fairly new to the whole message board thing. We are loving Maine so far and I thought this could be a fun way to meet some new people.
So, pardon my lurking -
Re: New here...
Welcome, Laura!
Don't worry about lurking. I get stuck doing that, if not just not logging on, all summer because of my business, so you are definitely not alone.
I'm Susie and I live half an hour outside of Portland in the middle of no where with my husband of three years and our 2.5 furry baby named Digby. I'm a teacher, professor, and a photographer. I love hiking, particularly in the winter, and generally spending time outside when I'm not geeking out at my computer.
What do you and your husband like to do?
Welcome! Where in NY are you from? I'm from NY too!
I've lived in Maine for 7years and recently moved from Portland area to Central Maine with my husband and puppy.
We are from Long Island...
My husband, Andy, and I love all sorts of outdoorsy things like biking and hiking and we love being able to walk most places from our apartment (LI is definitely a driving place, so this is so refreshing). We are loving trying all the restaurants in Portland and, at this point, generally being a bit touristy. We're also always up for a good beer or wine tasting.
Personally, I love yoga, baking/cooking and just took up knitting. For work, I'm an assistant innkeeper, which I am really enjoying (and is why I am awake so early on a Sunday morning) - Andy and I are hoping to eventually have our own inn in the somewhat distant future.
Looking forward to meeting you all!
Ah, ok. I'm from the Catskills.
I am the hiker in my family and my husband spends his weekends in the summer being a mountain bike guide. I dare say you are in a good state for outdoor activities!
Welcome! You should have come to the GTG yesterday
I'm Maeghan, originally from SC & NY. I moved here to be with my husband. When I first moved up here I was an innkeeper (I grew up in the business.) I'm currently half way through medical school but have taken an extended leave of absence due to illness and then having my daughter. We have 2 dogs, a cat and the occasional foster dog.

Welcome! I did my fair share of lurking when I first found the board (although it was a lot slower 4 years ago). Definitely jump right in and join us whenever we have another GTG planned. I'm Megan and live in Brunswick with MH, 16 month old Marcus, dog, and some cats. I'm a social worker and like cooking, reading, knitting, and hanging out with babe.
Welcome! Another Boston-based nestie who is hopefully moving to Maine sometime in the next year/ two... DH & I are both originally from Maine.
Welcome!! I'm Erika- wife to Adam, mama to 17 month old James, keeper of old kitty Tyson, and an long-timer here! I'm a Masshole who has lived in Maine for almost 5 years now, after being temporarily exhiled in FL for a few years. We're in Portland proper.
I love to cook, eat, mess around on the internet, ring handbells, and bellydance. Hope to meet you in person soon!
Hello! I'm Kimberly. I live in Sanford (about 45 minutes from Portland) with my DH Scott, 2-1/2 year old DD Helen, and naughty kitty Henry (seriously, he bites me). I moved to Maine from Virginia 8 years ago for a job and married a native Mainer in 2006. We'll probably never leave Maine unless DH's job dictates otherwise (or we retire to NH for lower taxes). I'm a SAHM.
