Adopting a Dog!

So my sort-of xmas present is a dog! (I told H to not spend money on me so we could put more towards the dog)

We went dog "shopping" over the weekend. (Visiting shelters and adoption clinics) We found a couple of dogs that we liked, but no one that we really fell in love with.

Today, H was looking through petfinder and found these three dogs. (Clicky names!)

Bruno

Holly

Lane

We're taking the afternoon off tomorrow to go check them out. They're all soooooo cute. I know we haven't met them yet, but something about their pictures just makes me feel like we'll love all of them and have a hard time picking between the three.

I am sooooooo excited! I'm literally bouncing in my seat. If the shelter was open today, I'd be outta here!

  • I couldn't see the pictures but adopting my furbaby was right up there with having my son!  She is the BEST!!  Wishing you good luck in your decision!

  • adopting any animal is such an amazing gift to that animal - they get a 2nd chance at a good life

don adopted our dog 9 years ago from the spca, it was her last day since she'd been there so long and was categorized as "uncontrollable" - they were going to put her down and he just couldn't let them do it.  she can be the biggest pain in the butt, but she loves us, IMHO, more since we rescued her.  don adopted our cat too and i've never known a cat to be so needy like she is.  she's my baby and i carry her around like one, she's just content laying on me all day long.

all 3 of those dogs are adorable!
i personally like lane because of his coloring, but thats just me :)

  • awww...they are all adorable!

I think Lane is the most attractive, but Bruno looks the nicest, but I also have a thing for girl dogs....damn it.  Love em all.

My Pamela Apple Pie came from the shelter too and I love her with all my little black heart.

  • That is so great that you are going to adopt!  It gives them a second chance at life.  Those doggies were so cute.  I'm sure one of them will be yours.  I adopted my dog 5 or so years ago.  He's a beagle and the shelter found him outside of a warehouse in WV.  We think he was a hunting dog that his formers owners got rid of because he is afraid of guns.   He only had a couple days left and I am so thankful that we made the 4 hour drive to get him.  He is my baby, he always wants to cuddle with me.  When DH's alarm goes off in the morning Cooper wakes up and jumps on the bed with me to sleep until I get up.  Dusty hates it since he's usually in our bed before he even leaves the room lol.

     Good luck tomorrow!

  • I clicked on Lane first cuz that's my bro's name.  LOVE HIM (brother AND dog)!  Although Bruno's huge smile makes me wanna snuggle bug his cuteness all day.

Pug face was from a pet store but I cannot wait until we adopt one.  Good luck!!

    hahaha

My boxer/lab mix, Apple, spends the ENTIRE night curled up in bed next to me.  We often joke that we have a three way spoon with me in the middle.  I think we adopt that configuration at least once every night.

Molly does this too.  She snuggles right up against me (all 65Ibs of her - lab/pit mix).  I have to drag her downstairs when I'm done getting ready in the mornings since we keep our bedroom doors shut or else she'd lay all over our pillows during the day!

  • They are all adorable! I love Lane's coloring, Bruno looks very alert and playful, and Holly looks like she is very sweet.

    Good luck choosing!

If we had a bigger bed Cooper would so be in our bed every night, all night.

And Jen, I close the doors when I'm here so he doesn't go back there and jump in our bed.  But when we're gone all bets are off because we have to leave him in our room.  If we put him in the spare room (where there is a couch mind you) he gets ticked off and finds something to tear apart and shreds it.

  • Haha, I wish there was a way I could convince H to get all 3! If I was a single woman, I'd have a dozen cats and dogs.

lol...I had 3 cats by the time I met K...2 from the shelter and the third an adopted stray...since we're together we've added Tanner (bull mastiff from the shelter on her 3rd adoption) & another kitty (adopted stray) to the mix...and if we had a bigger house/yard we'd have (at least) another big dog for Tanner to play with...ITA with the pp who said they love you more b/c they know you saved them.  All of mine are snuggle bugs.  But checking out the SPCA or petfinder websites is dangerous for me...I want to adopt them all!

  • I love Lane's coloring, but he looks like he could have an attitude. LOL but Bruno looks so nice and I want to hug him forever. (said in baby voice) Both of my dogs were bought from breeders, they were the runts that no one wanted. I love them and they have both been very healthy their lives.

  • Good for you Queen for adopting! Our two girls are not from shelters, but from oopsie litters people we know have had. We love them to bits... Good luck choosing, I can't look at the links right now, but I bet any one of them would be a great addition to your household.

  • Our furbabies are adopted, and we chose them from pictures online. DH and I talked last night and we will always adopt, every time we get a dog. It just makes the most sense to us.

Those dogs are all cute, but I'm with pp about Lane. What a beautiful dog!
