I've been asked to represent my company and speak on a panel to a public audience of engineers from 25 local companies. I'm surprised my name came up, honestly, and I haven't accepted yet...
This makes me nervous- I don't feel like I'm experienced enough to be considered an expert! He said he was given 3 names and he chose mine because my job description sounded closer, even though one of the other names has 25 years of experience (I have 10 total but almost 4 in this industry).
Yikes... anybody ever been on a panel like this? They have pre-set questions that you prepare an answer to and then anyone in the audience can ask questions until they run out of time. I only have a general idea of the topics.
I'm trying to figure out what to do to even decide if I'm the appropriate person. I'm honored that they've asked me but this just makes me so nervous. I asked what questions will be asked but they don't have them collected yet and won't until after I have to make a decision. I asked him to send me the draft "agenda" they have and I guess I'll look over it but this makes me so nervous!
