great... now I have a hole/scrape on my apartment wall...
Hello Ladies! I am need in of your help! DH and I are moving out of our current apartment this weekend. Here is my problem: I have 12x12" square mirrors hanging on our wall with mounting sticky squares. The package & the guy at Lowe's told me that they would be easy to remove by running a butter knife between the mounting square and the wall. however, I try to do this... and it comes off.... with part of the wall/paint!!! I have 2 mirrors left to do and am afraid that it will do the same thing. Is there an easier way to remove the mirror/sticky from thew wall without damage? HELP!!!!!!
TIA!!
Re: great... now I have a hole/scrape on my apartment wall...
Goo Gone works great for all kinds of adhesive.
Wipe some on the square with a towel and let it soak in, then it should come off pretty easy with the butter knife.
And after that, the marks should still qualify as "normal wear and tear" when renting. We had holes from pictures and a large mirror and that was considered normal.
You can get small jars of stuff to repair small damage to drywall.
Did the adhesive just pull off the top layer of the drywall? If you're worried about losing out on your deposit because of it, you can get a small jar of joint compound and a putty knife and spread it across the damaged areas. There's one that's pink in the jar and dries white. You can repair the wall for less than $10.
i agree with this! a container of spackle and a putty knife and then some sand paper to smooth it all out and you will be good as new (unless you need to paint, too. then a coat or two of paint will be needed).
