Oreo Truffles

I dunno if these are the new big thing this year (since I never heard of them before and now I'm seeing them everywhere!), but I got a dozen in our work cookie exchange last week and they are freaking to-die-for, and sooo easy to make.  I whipped up a batch for a party on Saturday and they disappeared like they were going out of style.  Since I know you all lurve your sweets, I'm going to be evil & share the recipe.

1 package of regular oreos, crushed.

1 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened

2 cups milk chocolate or semi-sweet chips

1 T shortening

Beat the cream cheese til fluffy, then add in the crushed oreos.  Put the mixture in the freezer for about an hour until it gets stiffer & easier to handle.

Once chilled, roll the cookie/cream cheese mixture into balls - you'll get 3-4 dozen balls depending on size.

Use a double boiler to melt the chocolate chips & shortening together.  Immerse the balls completely in the chocolate & set on waxed paper to cool.  Once the coating is cool, store the candies in the refrigerator.

Unless you hate oreos and/or cream cheese, betcha can't eat just one...

Re: Oreo Truffles

  • I have also been hearing about these alot this year. I think I am going to make some this yearfor H work. I normally use bark chocolate in my double boiler instead when I make cake balls.
