For having never refinished anything, my H did a fantastic job and I'm really pleased with the result. The light in the last pic sucks but the color is really a nice espresso, not black. We're thinking about either re-painting the existing hardware or replacing it, but that's not a big issue right now.

We had a small electric sander that DH used for 95% of the sanding. The other 5% was done by hand (around the legs mostly) and yes - definitely sore arms.
