Chromium in Norman water

Re: Chromium in Norman water

  • My co-worker [who isn't from Oklahoma and has only lived here four months] saw this and JUST told us about this. Super scary. I wonder if it's prevalent in other parts of the state...

  • I have been talking about this with a FB friend on his status.  The water that is used in Norman comes from the Garber-Wellington Aquifer, which also provides water for essentially all of central Oklahoma except for Oklahoma City itself.  It is kind of freaky, but the levels found in Norman, though the highest of the cities tested in this study, are still low compared to the levels from the town that made Erin Brockovich famous (the levels in that town were about 50 times higher than those found in Norman).  That being said, if we weren't going to be moving into OKC city limits soon, this freaks me out enough that I would probably invest in a reverse osmosis filter.
  • Scary stuff, makes me really happy we're not on Norman water.
  • Very scary! I heard about it on the news this morning.
