In the spirit of GTG's....
So, in thinking about the upcoming Midwest GTG, my mind got to wandering. There are so many great ladies on this board and it makes me sad that I won't get to meet all of them. How does everyone feel about having a board GTG in a neutral location? I know there are families, schedules, jobs and finances to consider, but I'm just wondering how everyone feels about it and if it's even something we could try to arrange.
So, here are my questions:
- Would you attend a S08 GTG?
- How long would you be willing to attend for? (long weekend, only overnight, longer, etc.)
- What time of year would you want the GTG to be?
- When would you want the GTG to be? 2011? 2012?
- What "activities" would you expect at the GTG?
- Anything else you'd like to add?
I know a lot of the ladies have already met IRL so they might not necessarily be interested in a S08 GTG...I just wanted to put some feelers out there.
Re: In the spirit of GTG's....
I actually think it would be so much fun.
I would do a weekend...I wish we could find a neutral place that was cheap for all of us to fly to. I would not mind spending some money on a small trip, if we could do to a place that was cheap to stay at and close to an airport so I would not have to rent a car.
I think it's hard to find an area that is both easily accessible and inexpensive.
But if enough of us go we might get a discount on booking.
I would think it would be fun to do a big dinner, like if we were at a hotel we could do a "cocktail hour" for mingling then sit down for dinner at the hotel so we could all be in one space and get to meet each other. Also, some site-seeing could be fun if we were in an interesting area. or just general fun get to know you activities.
I realize I am luck to have met quite a few of you all IRL and it would be fun to meet more of you :-)
I'm pretty sure I would, if the timing/money worked out. When we were together at Claire's I offered to host a huge sleepover weekend!
I think a long weekend would be good.
No preference on time of year, although sometimes traveling in the winter is tough due to storms across the country.
I'm open to 2011 or 2012.
I think activities would depend on the number, but I like at least one large dinner for everyone to be together. I think after that depending on where we are may dictate what activities are available.
But after getting together with a few different groups over the years, the best is really just sitting around talking. There's never enough time, to just talk and get to know each other!

Would you attend a S08 GTG? HECK YEAH!
How long would you be willing to attend for? (long weekend, only overnight, longer, etc.) Probably a weekend- long weekend
What time of year would you want the GTG to be? Summer/Early Fall would probably be best
When would you want the GTG to be? 2011? 2012? Doesn't matter to me!
What "activities" would you expect at the GTG? Eating! (Duh) Chatting, sightseeing, picture taking
Anything else you'd like to add? I would die of happiness if this works out! I would consider myself soooooooo lucky to meet each and everyone of you ladies!
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
opportunities. I would love to come!!
Oh this is an awesome idea. Will definitely help cut costs and I am more than happy to cook and bake for a day! I love doing it!
YEEEESSSSSS!!!!!! (and yes, it really does need all those exclamation points!
)
I live so far away from everyone that I haven't had the opportunity to meet ANY of you wonderful ladies IRL!
I'd totally be up for a long weekend of some type. I'd say between August and October 2011 would be awesome, or really any time after that. I know my schedule's already full until August 2011! And since I'm far away, any place is fine with me. It's all going to cost about the same in the end no matter where I go.
The house idea sounds AWESOME! Does anyone maybe even have some time shares that we could use? I know my friends always rave about how awesome they are (they have ones near Orlando, and also in Mexico).
Honestly, I think just planning to get together with however many peole can come is the best plan ever! Plan a dinner, and then just wing it from there! I like Amanda's idea of planning a couple and hopefully most people would be able to make it to at least one!
I LOVE this idea!!
Would you attend a S08 GTG? Depends on the location and logistics, but yes I would go to one.
How long would you be willing to attend for? (long weekend, only overnight, longer, etc.) It depends...if I'm spending the money to fly somewhere, I would rather do a few days and maybe bring DH along, so I could attend the GTG and then we could enjoy the area as a family.
What time of year would you want the GTG to be? Spring, Summer, or Fall
When would you want the GTG to be? 2011? 2012? either
What "activities" would you expect at the GTG? brunch, maybe visit a museum or park together...something where if S08 nieces and nephews come along, that the kids would have something to do
Anything else you'd like to add? I think it could be complicated to arrange a reunion of sorts, but if we throw dates/locations out there and see what the majority can do it is a great idea. Also, we'd need to decide if spouses and LOs would be welcome. Perhaps we could do two events in a long weekend...one with just us gals and one including SOs and LOs.
