Hey Nesties,
I'm new in more ways than one. I just started using the nest/the knot, not married yet, etc etc. But what I really want to ask about is being new to NYC.
I've interned there before and my SO grew up in Long Island, but I don't know much about Brooklyn which is where we're planning to move in June. Any advice on things like neighborhoods, things to expect, not expect?
Re: Advice for Newcomer?
I would recommend reading some local brooklyn blogs to learn about the different neighborhoods and their flare. I used to live in Park Slope and was quite fond of it. It's much slower than Manhattan (where I live now) and rife with strollers and families.
Here are a few of the Brooklyn blogs that I frequent (even though I'm not longer living there)

Be sure to check out the blogs they follow too, as there are plenty that I've left off!
Hi.
Welcome to Brooklyn! I currently live in Brooklyn (grew up in Staten Island though) and love it here. It all depends on the kind of neighborhood that you're moving in - but there is honestly tons to do here.
I live in a family friendly neighborhood that has neighborhood parades, and tons of events that happen during the year. So many restaurants within walking distance, a couple of supermarkets and even a farmer's market. *Brooklyn has great farmers markets, fyi.
It really depends on where you're moving, but I think once you get out and explore some - you'll love it.
