Has anyone done these at their hospitals or Northshore? Or have you watched a video that explains the breathing and birth process?
Northshore offers newborn care classes, I worked in the baby room for daycare during college. Am I OK to skip them? I'm sure I'll be calling my friends with babies a lot, but the only thing I haven't done is bathing. The classes looked more geared towards those with no experience.
Any advice is appreciated.
Re: Prenatal classes
We took a class on the labor and delivery process that we both found really helpful. It presented different options, possible outcomes, etc. and really just helped to put my mind at ease. We took them at the prenatal yoga center on the UWS (www.prenatalyogacenter.com) and I would highly recommend. I also took a breastfeeding class there that was good but not great (I found that with breastfeeding you learn more as you go along).
We did not take a newborn care class - and I don't have the experience you have - and we did fine without it. First, you can google anything you ever need to know or call your friends/family. And our hospital covered the highlights during the discharge meeting, and I felt that more than covered what I needed to know.
