Re: Christmas poll! :)

  • What's your favorite Christmas carol/song? I love "O Holy Night" and "Baby It's Cold Outside". Kinda opposites, I know. :P

What's your favorite Christmas movie? ELF! Or The Holiday. Or White Christmas. Or A Muppet Christmas Carol. Too many!

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year? We usually open presents at midnight [started that when I was a kid], but since my sister has to work on Christmas, we're opening presents on Christmas Eve. No new traditions yet, but I'm excited to see how things develop now that JJ's getting older.

Plans for Christmas? Sitting at home, talking to my dad on Skype and setting up JJ's play kitchen and work bench. We have tickets to a Thunder game that night - woo! I'm just glad there isn't any snow in the forecast...we got a foot of it last year. Which was cool - but I couldn't handle it this year.

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? Absolutely - we need a bigger tree! We're going to Dallas the day after to shop.

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? Watching JJ grow. He has grown and developed so much that it amazes me he was ever a newborn. He has been the highlight of my year, without a question. Watching H transition from a civilian to an Airman has been pretty neat, too.

  • What's your favorite Christmas carol/song? *The Barenaked Ladies/Sarah McLaughlin version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."

What's your favorite Christmas movie? *Miracle On 34th Street," but the original uncolorized version.

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year? *E's family never really did Christmas. They tend to go to Florida for the holiday and E would stay up here and hang out with friends. I've done various things, depending on the year... go to a friend's for dinner, go to Joe's parents' when we were dating, or the traditional Jewish Chinese food and a movie. One year I went to a Jewish singles dance on Christmas Eve... NYC is full of them. Last year we had one of E's friends over for dinner on Christmas day. This year we're spending it on our own, but having 8-12 people over on 12/26 for an "extend the holidays dinner." I could see this becoming a regular thing.

Plans for Christmas? *See previous answer.

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? Nope, having guests. As it is, this year the day after Christmas is Sunday and Bergen County still has blue laws, so the best malls in the area are closed.

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? *Employment! And just feeling more secure with a better place to live, better financial circs, etc.

  • Ooh yay!

What's your favorite Christmas carol/song? Silent Night

What's your favorite Christmas movie? Scrooged or Elf

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year? We are going to start buying an ornament every year for the baby. I always make breakfast pizza on Christmas morning.

Plans for Christmas? We had Christmas with my parents/siblings/their families on Saturday. Christmas Eve we will go to church at 6:30 and then Clint's paternal grandma's for soup and sandwiches. Christmas Day we will open presents/have breakfast at our house and then meander up to his parents at some point. Day after Christmas we are going to his maternal grandparents.

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? Not the day after, but I will get in there sometime next week!

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? Pretty obvious, but the birth of our little princess. I count my blessings every single day.

  • What's your favorite Christmas carol/song? Carol of the Bells

What's your favorite Christmas movie? A Christmas Story!

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year? My parents and I would always go out for Chinese food on Christmas Eve, so DH and I try to do that still.

Plans for Christmas? Christmas Eve we'll go to church and DH's grandma and grandpa's house for dinner. Christmas day we're going to the IL's. Then Monday we're off to Florida!

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? Nope, no big shopping malls here.

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? Buying our house and finding out we are pregnant!
  • What's your favorite Christmas carol/song? I could never choose a favorite. I like religious Christmas music best, but I love all Christmas music!

What's your favorite Christmas movie? A Christmas Story

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year? With my parents, we would have a movie marathon, play board games, and eat food that didn't have to be cooked (veggie tray, cheese and meat tray, chips and queso, and tamales -- ok, the queso has to be made in the crockpot and the tamales warmed up in the oven, but no real cooking). This year will be different because we won't all be together, but Rodgers, Nate, and I will be having our first Christmas together. I want to start a tradition of giving Nate books in his stocking.

Plans for Christmas? We will open gifts as a family Christmas morning. Then Nate and I are going down to see my parents and maternal grandma. Rodgers has to work. We'll stay the night down there (we're meeting in a central location), then Rodgers will drive down for breakfast Sunday morning and drive back home so he can go to work. Sunday afternoon, we're (Nate, my parents, and I) going to my paternal grandparents' house, where all my cousins, aunts, and uncles on that side will be, but not my siblings.

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? I like to wait a few days, a week or so. I always buy my wrapping paper and Christmas decor after Christmas.

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? So much!! 2010 has been an awesome year, despite 3 months of unemployment. Nate came into our lives and is becoming a very fun little boy, I loooooove not being pregnant, and we got to go to England and Kenya this summer!

  • What's your favorite Christmas carol/song? Jingle Bell Rock

What's your favorite Christmas movie? A Christmas Story

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year? I always read Twas the night before christmas as a kid, and I hope I can read with my children some day soon.

Plans for Christmas? Dinner with both sets of parents

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? Nope

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? It's been a rough year, but I'm praying 2011 is going to be my year.

  • What's your favorite Christmas carol/song?  Oh Holy Night and I too love Baby It's Cold Outside.  Another one that I love is one that is sung in children's voices - Happy Birthday Jesus.

What's your favorite Christmas movie?  While it isn't a "holiday movie" per se - While You Were Sleeping.  The family scenes in that remind me of my family espc when my grandma was there.  Love the sweet randomness of all the comments.  "These mashed potatoes are so creamy.."

Do you have any Christmas traditions? Plan to start any new ones this year?  Decorating, Christmas lights.....lots of family and lots of food.  I grew up going to either Kansas or Florida every year for Christmas.  All the aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents would gather together.....It was so fun and something that I miss because some have passed and it's harder for all the cousins to get together now that we all have our own families.  So I guess with Luke we are going to start seeing what we want to incorporate as far as traditions with him.

Plans for Christmas?  We are going to be with John's family in east TX.  We'll do Christmas with my parents on New  Years.

Do you plan on going shopping the day after Christmas and hit the sales? Nah.   Will some that next week though to finish up a couple things for my parents..

With 2011 just around the corner, what's been the best part about 2010? Seeing Luke change so much!  Love the personality that shines through!   Also loved getting into our home and making some headway on some debt.
