AW Fringe Blankets

My first attempt wasn't too bad, but like I said yesterday, the adult blanket took for fecking ever and it was a miserable experience.

Here's the baby blanket (has a solid blue back side) for MOHs baby:

The adult blanket is for my coworker/friend who sang at the wedding.  Her living room is decorated in black and purple, but after I made the blanket, I realized it's Colorado Rockies colors and I'm not too keen on it.  Oh well, she'll at least use it for the warmth factor :)

Re: AW Fringe Blankets

  • Good job! I know the regular size ones can be a PITA... How big did you end up going? I don't give full size ones as gifts very often, b/c it can suck to do and can be expensive too. They are great though. So glad you took the plunge! :)

  • Those came out GREAT! I am thinking the adult one would be much appreciated. She IS the one who did her living room in black and purple :) I will also have you know that I have a black and raspberry one and is is the WARMEST blanket EVA! It was a gift and will always be a favorite! Good job!

  • tbears-I bought two yards, trimmed about 3" on each side, then did 6" fringes.  Not sure how big the final size is, but I'm 5'9" and it covered me, so it will work for her (she's 5'5").

deb-my orange and blue Bronco hands are too pristine to ever make anything black and silver :p

  • Aw, two yards? I feel your pain, but I always make at least 2.5 yard ones for adults, but that's mostly b/c H is picking and likes them longer... :)

Seriously though, good job, I just make so many baby ones I guess I am jaded on the adult ones most of the time.

  • awesome job!

So are the adult ones a PITA just b/c they are so much bigger?  Or is there something else?

  • the adult ones are a PITA!
i've made 4 adult ones so far (1 still to go)...i got 2 yards for them each.  i made 1 for my 3yr old niece and it was a piece of cake, such a nice break from the adult ones!

today when i went to make 2 of them i got tired of doing them on the floor so i drapped it over our bed so i'd at least has something comfy to sit on while working!  still took me about 1.5 - 2 hrs to do each one!  ugh, they turned out great, but just a PITA!
