So I am quite pissy and frustrated right now. I will try to keep this short but I am sure it will get long.
I started seeing the Physicians Assistant at my doctors office back in May. Then she mentioned putting me on Clomid but I wanted to wait. After a month and half I decided that I did want to do it so she called in the prescription and I started. Their instructions were that 7-10 days after a positive OPK to go get your blood work done to check for Progesterone. Well I never got a positive but I called her later to check in and she wanted to see me. I sat down and she says, "Maybe we should try Clomid". I told I her I just did and she was not fazed that she did not know that and just went on.
We took a short hiatus from actively TTC and I called her two months later and got my prescription for Provera and Clomid for this last time. I got a positive OPK and called to double check about the bloodwork and they ordered it and I went in last Friday. They just called with my results. They inform me that I might have PCOS. Well no sh*t! I was diagnosed with that 4 1/2 years ago and it is in my chart. They did not even test the Progesterone. The nurse barely apologized for that and then kept going on about they wanted me to come in for more bloodowrk to check for the PCOS, even after I mentioned that I already knew I had it.
They said they were going to mail me the results and I told her to mail them to Tenn. so that my mom (a nurse) could look at them while we are there and I could talk to my old doctor there. I called to check and of course he is not covered by my insurance so I can not actually go see him. Then I asked the insurance people about my coverage for a reproductive endocrinologist, in case this cycle does not work, and they only cover $1500 and the rest is out of pocket. I freaking hope I am pregnant right now and do not have to deal with this anymore.
If you made it this far, thanks ladies. Just had to get it off my chest.
Re: Vent- My OB/GYN
That is rediculous, you have a chart for a reason. Of course they won't have it memorized but it's there to reference. I also would be beyond pi$$ed and would call and speak with the Dr or actually schdule a consult so you have their undivided attention.
I am sorry you are dealing with this, would you be willing to switch because honestly that would make me want to for sure.
I would either call and ask to speak to the head physician and/or look for a new doctor. Everything has been noted in your chart. Second they had you on a medication and then said to try x, but you were already on it. Further I would super upset that they put you through having to take medicines, get bloodwork and then not even test for what they should have.
I agree with Shelley, I would probably file a complaint with the medical board. DH had to do that with one of his neck doctors and even though nothing came of it, at least they were made aware of the poor care DH received.

Whit - I really think you need to make some serious changes. Clomid isn't something to be messed around with. If the PA can't even take the time to notice that you've been talking Clomid and that you've already been diagnosed with PCOS, she could put you on something that could really harm you! I agree that you need to speak to the doctor there and let them know that you are extremely dissatisfied with what has been going on.
As far as the RE goes, I'm sure that they're going to do a lot of testing at the beginning. When you go for your consulation, you can ask, but I think that all of that diagnostic testing doesn't count towards the deductible. I'm not sure though. $1500 can go pretty far if you start off doing IUIs. It's all the testing that costs an arm and a leg.
I really hope that you're pregnant right now and that all of this won't matter. When are you testing?

Thanks for listening ladies! I called back and talked to the office manager and she talked to my PA. She is going to run the progesterone off of the blood they drew on Friday and give me the results tomorrow. If the test comes back and shows that I did ovulate then I guess I am testing sometime at the end of this week. My hopes are way up right now and I am super nervous about getting them crushed.
I am still debating about switching to see a doctor in that same practice or going to a completely different office. I guess that all also depends on my test results tomorrow.
