Uterus News

If you have a minute, indulge me by reading this:

I'm 4cm and had my membranes stripped this morning.  Induction is scheduled for December 30th (I ended up having the choice of that or January 3rd, and I chose the earlier date.  Maybe not the most "natural" of choices, but I know I'd go insane if I had to wait through the weekend.).

I was having lots of contractions this morning after the stripping but they've died down.  I feel like I should be doing lunges or climbing a mountain or something to keep them going, but I can't do that from my desk at work.

The doctor's office gave me a pad to wear out that seems to be from the Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret era.  I'm surprised it doesn't have a belt.

  • that's exciting~  best of luck!!!

word of advice, I'm not sure exactly when you are due, but if you're "over" or close, you might want to not do any exercise.  apparently your placenta starts deteriorating and it's best to rest on your left side (this is what my doc told me anyway).  I was walking/exercising up a storm until the day I was admitted and sometimes I wonder if it contributed to my problems . . .

anyway.  maybe if you HAVE to be induced, the cervidil would be enough to get you started.  It did for me, so much so that we had to yank it out at 2:30 am when Jack started crashing hard due to no uterjuice.

  • I'd go with the 30th over the 3rd, too.  Good choice!  Get that tax deduction!

Anytime you go somewhere today, I want you to bunny hop to get there.  Or walk like a sumo wrestler.  One of the two.

  • WooHoo Tummy!
I was stripped on Thursday morning and had contractions on and off (most timeable and strong at night) for the next few days and the real thing kicked in at 9 on Saturday night.  High knees, nipple stimulation, bouncing on a ball, freak your cowrkers OUT!

    Good luck muffin!!

  • Here's to a 2010 tax deduction!
  • Ooh, yay, a 2010 baby!  Does your office have a window?  If so, you know what do.  If not, find a flashlight.

  • 4 cm? You are SO not making it to December 30.

The pads will be a regular part of your undercarriage life for the next few weeks. Just try not to walk like you just rode a horse.

  • Your due date is the 23rd, right?  I'll be vibing for a due date baby!

  • At 4 cm, stripped membranes and contractions I'm willing to bet you'll either have the baby before or on Christmas day.

You'll probably go pretty quickly especially if the stripped membranes worked.

     Good luck!

  • Eeeeek! I'm vibezing for your ute!

  • Yay for progress!  Good luck, HT.  I highly recommend castor oil, if you want to try to get things moving on your own.
  • 4 cms? Just start pushing now.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • Sounds like you are doing the same thing I did. I went in at 5cm and had my membranes stripped and my water broken and didn't need anything beyond that to kick the process into overdrive. All those cm of work before hand make the hospital part really fast.

    Go ute go!
