Baby shower invite wording question

Throwing a baby shower for my BF in February on a Sunday at 1:30pm.  Do I need to put something on there about lunch being served, or do you think people will understand lunch is being served without saying it?   (shower can't be any earlier than 1:30 because of BF's church service but I still want to serve lunch).

Re: Baby shower invite wording question

  • I would say on the invitation that you'll be serving lunch.  Otherwise some people will probably eat beforehand, not knowing whether you'll have a full spread, or just cake, etc.
  • I would mention that you're serving lunch. 1:30 is a late lunch and if I were going, I would want to be prepared to not eat until then. Plus, you don't want tons of leftover food because everyone ate before going to the party.
  • ditto PPs.  1:30 is not a typical time for lunch  and if I got an invite like that, I'd assume it wasn't a lunch and would be dessert or snacky foods.  You could easily say something like "join us for a lunch and shower in honor of..."  and then it is crystal clear.
  • Thanks so much ladies!!!
