holy snow storm

the roads were horrible this afternoon- that storm hit the midcoast and the lisbon area fast and hard.  It took me almost an hour to get from Wiscasset to the office and then another hour to get home.  Why couldn't have the snow waited until like 4am so we'd get a snow day?

Re: holy snow storm

  •  Nothing here in Newport yet, but looks like it could start any second.
  • well Andrea, it'll be a while since we don't have anything here in disgusta...hoping it stays that way.  I don't want to drive to work at 545 am in the snow...although if no one is out, it might be ok

On NPR this morning they kept saying snow was only going to be Bangor North...obviously not a very accurate forecast! I hope we don't get any either. I don't want to drive in the snow in the morning either.

  • It took me an hour to get home from the office - Yarmouth to Lisbon Falls - usually takes 20 minutes!  My car is not so great in snow and there is this really steep curving hill along the river coming into Lisbon.  It may have been the most nerve wracking drive of my life LOL.  I kept telling myself, "You're not going in the river, you're not going in the river..."

How funny!  Small world, state and message board ;)  That hill is freaky, this is my first winter in the Falls and I'm not sure how many trips down the roller coaster I want to take this winter haha.

  • I drove from Pittsfield to Houlton and back today, just rain or dry all the way!

The forecast was way off for location it seems.

  • So I'm totally late on this but I work at AAA in the road service call center and all I can say is I'm SO glad that storm was isolated to the Portland area. It was so crazy in Portland and South Portland. We are normally able to get service to people in that area within about 30 minutes, but we had people yesterday waiting 3 hours. We had drivers from NH come up to help us with the call volume up here. One of my coworkers said it took him 2 hours to get from Target in South Portland to Borders in South Portland and another left Target at 5 pm and by 7:30 had only gotten to about 1/4 mi. past the jetport. I was actually glad to be stuck at work.
