I cant seem to figure out why i can clean ALL day long but i cant seem to keep things picked up! I am really messy and i have no problem cleaning but keeping it clean is my BIGGEST issue
HELP
Re: HELP
This.
I heard the other day that one trick to keep things picked up is to FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED. Eating lunch? finish by putting the dishes away. Getting out of bed? Finish by making the bed. Taking off clothes? Finish by putting them in the hamper.
I;ve been going through the last several days telling myself FINISH. It helps.
I have the same exact issue. It just seems like I ALWAYS have a "catch all" room.
I have recently started using the "2 month" rule. Example: If I have some sort of wall hanging, clothes, knick knacks etc..and I haven't actually used it in the last 2 months and it gets tossed from place to place, I donate it. Especially clothes, our bedroom got a little out of hand and finally I said okay, if I've had this shirt forever but I hardly wear it now why keep it? I no longer need a bright pink "summery" shirt, there will be another one next year. And as far as my decorations and things, find someone you know and give it to them if you aren't ready to donate it. Hope this helps.
I hear ya.... I spend my cleaning days just tidying up after myself. I love organization, but I am one of those types where if I can't have perfection, I ignore the issue completely! Finishing what you've started is good advice. I've also read of a woman who makes it a game, before she can relax or do something she enjoys, she wanders her house and finds one item for every year old she is that isn't where it belongs and puts it in its place. I haven't tried that.... lol. But you might like it.
Have you heard of Flylady.net ? She shows you how to get yourself into the habit of cleaning gradually. I haven't done it, but it is a good idea! Good luck! I have that problem too!
