dog parks in Cincinnati

H and I got a new puppy and he needs to spend some time with other dogs. Where's the best dog park around? We live in Newport but don't mind driving as long as it's not ridiculous.

Re: dog parks in Cincinnati

  • There's one at Mt. Airy Forest but that's at least a 10 mile drive.  There's one in West Chester but that's a really long drive for you.  Those are the only two I've visited but I think there are a few in NKY.

  • It's not a dog park, but there is a trail in Indian Hill that is part of their horse trail system.  In my experience, a lot of people take their dogs for walks there.  At one point along the trail the creeks wells up and creates a little swimming hole.  In the summer months, there are all sorts of dogs swimming there.  I like it a lot- gets me and the dog exercising.  The portion of the trail is called Red Bird Hollow.  Not sure if it's (red bird) supposed to be one or two words.

  • There is a great dog park at Pioneer Park in Covington/Independence. That would probably be the closest to you in Newport.

  • We go to the one at Pioneer Park.  There are sections for large dogs and small dogs.  Dogs do need to be altered.

I'm pretty sure there is one in Ft. Thomas but I've heard that it's mostly a hill.  I have no idea where it is, though.

  • We just got a new puppy too!!! So exciting!!

There is a dog park by Lunken Airport. I like it because they have an area for little dogs and big dogs...Plus a long trail to walk before/after..

Wags Dog park in Newtown is neat but kinda expensive and I think they have to be 4 months old. Look for coupons...great place in the summer.

Let me know if you visit any others. I'm curious..

    Have fun!
