Ok, who is listening or listened to Free Beer and Hot Wing Show this morning.
Re: Who is crying?
It is their Holiday Break In show. So far they have shared two stories of widow dads (the moms passed away this year) with young kids at home. The stories always get to me and the thought of these families coming home and finding all this stuff getst to me.

Long time listener here. I do think previous break in shows have been more emotional in the past. I don't mind the banter actually. I don't think it takes away from what they're doing necessarily. I think it's kind of funny. I see what you mean though, it's kind of irreverant, if that makes any sense.
I think at times they got carried away that they ran out of time, so the person on the phone didn't get to share everything they wanted to.
Major lump in my throat.

Didn't they admit it was like a defense mechanism for them? That the stories are so emotional, and the thought of the families coming home to this after all they've been through can get the best of them, so they ramp up the ribbing and har-de-har-har factor to keep from becoming to "close" to it and getting choked up on-air.

I didn't hear that if they talked about. It makes sense that they would do that. And I liked it, I don't need to be sitting here crying at work, laughing is much more acceptable. LOL.
Oh yes, I cried. I only heard some portions throughout the morning, the story about the family that put the last photo they took of the mom by the Christmas tree so that she could "be there" when they opened presents this year made me a mess.
I think they mentioned they joke to keep from cracking on the air. I think it helped me be less of a wreck too, actually.
I agree. I love their show all year even though some days or some segments make me cringe...the holiday break-ins show is a great reminder of just how big their hearts are. I didn't have time to listen to most of the show today, but we get the podcast so I'm looking forward to hearing it during our flight to CO.
Their jarring and joking was probably to keep them from showing emotion. I know one of them personally and he is a very emotional and good person. These type of stories at this time of year are very heart-tugging.
I totally understand why they did the joking and I don't mind it. I just think sometime they get on a roll and don't know when to stop. Cracking jokes here and there is funny, esp to break up the mood. I love "smart azz" humor. But it seem like today that they would get stuck on something and say the same thing over and over. Like when they were mocking BJ for his voice. Several of the times you could tell the person on the phone was trying to get in a word in but couldn't. And then when they finally talked, they had to end the segement to go to break.
Which one do you know?
