First Mini Disaster at our new house

This morning I woke up at 6 am and had to go to the bathroom, I went in and the toilet was running, I have no idea how long it was running, I flushed the toilet and it stopped. I had a headache so I went to get some water from the fridge and when I opened the fridge I noticed a little bit of water came from the top of the fridge. Well apparently something (I am guessing the toilet) leaked from upstairs on top of the fridge and ruined all of my cookbooks I had on top of the fridge.

DH was upset and said he would check on it later, hopefully its nothing big, but it was not a good way to wake up.

  • Oh no! I hope the damage isn't too bad.
  • bleah...that is lame.

  • It could have been worse. We had some hose fall out of the pipe it was connected to. It was shooting water everywhere. Seriously, a geyser in my kitchen. It was hilarious watching DH try to shut off the water while getting sprayed in the face. We got it all taken care of and everything ended up being fine, but right then it was a bit of a crisis.

  • Eep! Hoping for no/minimal damage for you. It's good that your H is willing to work on things, though. Our disposal fritzed out a few weeks ago (apparently I overloaded it) and we called a plumber. I watched intently when he fixed it, so H says it's up to me if it happens again. ;)

  • boo to things going wrong in the house. I hope nothing was too damaged! DH is not very hands on at fixing things. My dad and stepdad and brother are all very handy so I never had this issue growing up. Luckily, I still have all of them to call on when I need help.

  • Thats horrible! We had something similar happent to us but it was from our upstairs bathroom to our dining room the day before our wedding! I was sitting around the table with my BM's and my mother and friends and nobody was paying attetion. I said wow we must be getting a storm listen to that rain, and turned my head to look out the window and saw that the rain was inside the house. We had just finished a bedroom remodel and had to cut out the new drywall ( we just painted 2 days before) to fix the pipes. I hope its somewear easy for you guys to get too!
