Tonight we exchanged gifts for Christmas (since we will be with ILs on Christmas day) and DH gave me a Kindle! I am so excited! I am a big reader and although I am not a gadget person, I have started to think I might like one of the ereaders. Didn't think he would actually get me one!!
So it's charging and I plan to take it on my trip this weekend. Yeah DH!!
Re: Love my DH!
I don't know very much about kindles. Is it basically like an ipod but for books? It eliminates the need to physically obtain books? Tell me about them.
More and more these days, I am feeling sooooo out of loop with technology...
I am out of the loop with technology as well! Basically you read books, newspapers, and magazines right on the book reader. So if you are going on a trip and like to read (like I do!), then you don't have to take a bunch of books with you. They are downloaded on this tiny little reader and you can just read them right on there. I haven't tried it yet, but did get it all set up last night and downloaded a couple of books.
This is really my only gadget besides a cell phone. Which my cell phone is probably 4 or 5 years old, so it's ancient!!
Do you have to pay to DL the reading material? Is it like Itunes? Or is it free to DL it all? (I'm assuming it's not free!)
Wow, that IS an ancient cell phone! Mine is only 1.5 years old. But I always feel like it may as well be a rotary phone since it's not a blackberry or iPhone and it doesn't have internet!
Yes, you pay to get the books although there are some free ones. Although you have to pay, the price is cheaper than buying a hard copy book. Plus some of the older books can cost as little as $3/$4.
I am a regular library user, but will definitely use the ereader when traveling. So much easier than having to take books with me. When we went to Aruba in Sept. I took 6 books with us as I planned to spend a lot of time by the pool and on the beach. That took up a lot of space!
My phone has no internet or anything either. No BB or iphone because I am just too cheap to pay that much for it or the service.
