Re: The Pill and Lost Libido
If you don't mind me asking, what do you use for birth control now?
Same thing happened to me and I stopped taking hormonal birth control. We use condoms. In our case, though, we will be starting TTC in the spring, and won't be devastated if it happens before then. I would call my gyno. Even though it's embarrassing, I'm sure she/he will be able to help.

Same here. I used Nuvaring for over a year as a break from Depo, and my sex drive plummeted to the point where the idea of having sex pretty much disgusted me. It was hard on our relationship and it took me a long time to realize what was wrong. Like the very same day I switched back to Depo it was a total 180 and I was back to normal.
Your best bet really is to talk to your doctor about switching to a different pill or a different method altogether to see what works for you.
I also dealt with this. I was originally on Yaz (Ocella). I talked to my doc about the lack of sex drive, so she put me on a Ortho Tri Lo. I tried it for a couple months - no change. So, immediately after the wedding, I stopped BC all together and we started using condoms.
Only condoms but we use them everytime. They offer the amount of security we need without the drawbacks of hormonal BC.
Same here. Went off Nuvaring last month due to total loss of libido, we use condoms. BIG change since going off the BC.
Your siggy pic is beautiful! You look like a princess!!
Same thing happened to me. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo but I had break through bleeding and cysts then switched to a horrible pill and finally tossed them out the window due to non-existant sex drive and cysts. I chart and we use condoms when I'm fertile.
Sounds like the same story over and over again.
I was used to having a pretty strong sex drive, but it completely went out the window since Feb when I was put on (Loestrin24) to help with ovarian cysts. I couldn't stand the way they made me feel, emotionally, and physically. They made me pretty moody, completely took away my desire to do anything sexual, and they also didn't help my cysts at all, so I threw out the Pills.
Its now 3 weeks off of them and I feel like a new woman! Though God only knows what will become of the cysts. I would rather deal with the cysts instead of all the negative effects that hormonal birth control has had on my life, and my relationship.
I was on several different types of BCP -- all the same issue, 0 libido. I used Ortho Tricyclen Lo, Loestrin 24 Fe, Azurrette (Mircette) I stopped using BCP and use NFP now. My sex drive sky rocketed as soon as I got off BCP.
As far as ditching it, my face was really greasy for the first month or two, but it's pretty much normal now. Same with breaking out. I didn't gain any weight, but I didn't lose the weight I gained when I was on BCP.
I had maybe one big pimple when I stopped but no breakouts. No weight gain, I lost weight actually but I dont think it had anything to do with the hormones. I stopped using nuvaring and it took almost 3 months to get my period but I stopped mid cycle (because I was so angry with the drawbacks) so Im sure thats why. If anyone stops using birth control I would suggust waiting until the end of a package. Then my period came heavy and painful but not very long.
I want to add that nuva ring was actually pretty good, just not for me. Its very easy and effective and you dont have to remember it or even think about it very often.
I didn't have any problems when I came off the pill the first time. The second time I went from the pill to the NuvaRing. Coming off of that seemed weird. I was moody, my face had a few pimples but it wasn't nothing major and i was really thristy. But my sex drive came back so I didn't care about none of that stuff.
