carpeted stairs

How do you vacuum them? Or what do you use?

DH and I just moved into a house with stairs and we have a new baby, a lab, and two kitties.

Re: carpeted stairs

  • I used to have a hand held dirt devil that was made for carpet (vs. the ones that just tend to suck up crumbs on hard floors).  That was easiest, now I have an attachment for my Dyson that is kind of a pain to use.  But, that's how I do it.
  • I use the tube attachment on our Bissell Pet Vac for the seams and corners and then use the pet hair attachment for the stairs themselves, kind of time consuming, but really picks up everything.
  • We use the vacuum hose with an attachment. I have to perch the vacuum a couple stairs below me, but it's not a big deal and I'm done in about 5 minutes. Guess the ease of that would depend on how deep/heavy your vacuum is.

  • My goal is to vacuum them once a week, but it doesn't always work that way. I have to use the hose attachment on my vacuum cleaner and it's kind of a pain.
