Holiday Plans

What's everyone up to for the holidays?

Are you traveling?

Are you hosting?

Is this season extra special this year for any reason?

Re: Holiday Plans

  • We are hosting a big open house type party for my mother's side of the family.  Should be a lot of fun.  My mom is at my house right now preparing food and watching T (daycare is closed today.)  That worked out nicely.  :)

Sunday I am hosting a small Christmas dinner with my mom, H's dad, and maybe my younger sister and a few other people.

Sunday I am getting together with my sister who is going through a divorce.  It should be a nice weekend.

This Christmas is extra special for me because it's T's first.  Big Smile  And it's the first Christmas in the new house and the first time we got a tree.   Picking out the tree was a blast.

  • Christmas Eve we celebrate xmas - European tradition. We are getting the girls for 5 days on Monday. NYE we are taking them home and then going to our friends up in Petoskey for that weekend.

  • What's everyone up to for the holidays?  Family rounds mostly.  Tonight we're going to a concert (which I'm kind of not looking forward to) at Billy's in Eastown, and then tomorrow morning we're supposed to be going to the neighbor's to do a Christmas breakfast.  Saturday Nick and I will have breakfast and open our gifts to eachother, and then we're off to his Aunt's for appetizers, and then my Aunt's for dinner and games which is SUPER fun.

Are you traveling?  Yes, but just locally

Are you hosting?  Nope.  I would love to, but our house isn't big enough

Is this season extra special this year for any reason?   Not really.   I wish it was though.  Not that it's NOT special, but it's not extra special for any reason.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • On Xmas Eve we are traveling (not far, just an hour) to Andy's extended family Christmas at noon.  Then the immediate family is coming to our house to open gifts and relax.  Since we're having a bigger meal with the extended family, I'm only in charge of appetizer/finger foods which makes hosting much easier.  MIL is taking care of the desserts.

On Christmas we are going to my parents to relax with my immediate family.

On the day after Christmas we are celebrating my best friend's 30th birthday - Vegas party at my house followed by dinner + drinks downtown.

There's nothing extra special this year - but I'm really looking forward to a fun weekend.

  • Saturday will most likely be just the 3 of us.  H will sleep most of the day since he works 3rds the Christmas Eve night and Christmas Night.  We may invite his parents over for a bit, since they'll be alone anyways.

Sunday SIL and her family will be here from OH, so I guess we are all getting together at our place.  Which means cleaning the house, and making sure SIL's kids don't break or ruin anything.

My family gets together on New Year's Day.  Really looking forward to getting to see everyone.

This year is extra-special because of Baby Rebel.  He won't really understand what's going on, or really be into the gifts, but that's what pictures are for.  The memories.

  • We're spending Christmas in Colorado with XN's family this year. It's special because we haven't been there for the actual holiday in about 5 years and his parents are just ecstatic about us coming.

Unfortunately this means leaving my parents behind...with my sister halfway around the world this year, I know it will be harder for them than they let on. We're having Christmas with them tonight, which is also my sister's birthday, so it's just kind of weird all around. But we'll have a good time.
