Favorite Christmas Movies?

As a spinoff to my sweater post inspired by Bridget Jones' Diary...

What are your favorite Christmas movies?  DH and I are staying home on Christmas Eve and I would love to have some good ones lined up - couple glasses of wine, cookies, and a good movie sounds like a great evening!

Re: Favorite Christmas Movies?

  • I love "It's a Wonderful Life" & "White Christmas" for traditional and "Elf" for a fun one.

I love smiling. Smiling is my favorite. Big Smile

  • DH loves, loves, loves "Love Actually; I like it too but he LOVES it.  He says it's not really Christmas unless we watch it.

"National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" was big @ my house growing up.  We'd watch it Thanksgiving night as a way to start off the season.

I've never been into the old Christmas movies of the 40s & 50s.

  • "White Christmas" -- I can quote it pretty much word for word, and join in on the harmonies when they're singing! It's not Christmas in my family without watching that one!

"A Christmas Story" -- such a classic! We've taught Shannon to say, "Fra-gee-lay... Must be Italian."

"Miracle on 34th Street" -- another classic

    "It's a Wonderful Life"

"Elf" -- it just makes me smile. Will Farrell makes an awesome Buddy the Elf. I think it's my favorite role of his.

"Polar Express" -- this one might be more for kids, but it really makes me happy.

"The Muppet Christmas Carol" -- probably my favorite version of this tale

"The Santa Clause" and "The Santa Clause 2" ... don't think I've actually seen #3, should probably change that soon!

  • Hands down, Home Alone!  That freakin' kid kills me every time.  I watched it with my 5 yr old niece the other day (it was her first time) and she's still talking about how funny Kevin is!
  • Elf - I don't care how many times I watch it, I die laughing at the same parts.  I adore Will Ferrell, absolutely adore him.

Christmas Story - It's brilliantly written and has some of the best one liners ever!

I've never seen Love Actually, but I hear it's a great Christmas movie.

Christmas Vacation - Watched it last night and just about peed my pants!
