I don't usually get into dressing up, but I have a Halloween party this weekend and it will be fun, so am sucking it up. I could go as Harry Potter like last year ( I could get away with it, because it's a different crowd) but I really want to go as Betty Draper because it would be hilarious.
Help/suggestions? What would I wear... blonde wig, pearls, cigarettes, shaky hands? ;-)
Re: NER: Halloween / Mad Men
Oh, that sounds awesome.
Paint your nails a bright red or pink. You could wear a 1960s era style dress or you could go more casual...peddle pushers, sleeveless blouse tied at the waist. Or maybe just a housecoat for those times she's just hung around the house drinking!
Great idea!
lol mw and your sexy dreams!
I would say to check out a vintage/thrift shop and find a short dress with a full skirt, but the housecoat/drunkard idea is awesome. Find some candy cigarettes, mess your hair up and wear a nightgown around. Carry a bottle of whisky all night, and if you can find a kid to fake slap you're really set.
Awesome ideas, ladies! I'm going to try to make this one happen if I can rustle all this stuff up by Saturday.
And I love the idea of going as depressed around-the-house Betty. Awesome!
Oh, and remember in Season 1 when BD shot the bird in the backyard with Bobby's BB gun wearing a housecoat and with a cig dangling out of her mouth? You could carry around a toy rifle!
Please post pics!
I don't have any costume party plans, but now I am tempted to dress up as Francine, Betty's pregnant, cig smoking, drinking neighbor!
Majorwife, I am totally swooning over that middle photo!
Such pretty, pretty clothes! And how gorgeous is Christina Hendricks!
Yeah, her outfit at the Emmys was pretty bad.
