What are your plans for Christmas?
What are you guys doing for Christmas/Christmas Eve? Any traditions?
Re: What are your plans for Christmas?
Christmas Eve- We have to make potato dough for the cinnamon rolls we'll be making Christmas morning. I'm going to clean my house in the afternoon and then my best friend and her family are coming over in the early evening to do presents. We're doing our Christmas dinner with my mom (still don't know what we're having) and then we make a big thermos of hot cocoa, pile into the car, and drive around looking at Christmas lights (our yearly tradition).
Christmas Day- Sleep in and then get up and make cinnamon rolls (another yearly tradition). We'll head over to my mom's house to open presents and eat breakfast. Alison gets to watch A Christmas Story then because it's the only day of the year I'm allowed to (DH hates that movie) and then Skype with DH's family and relax for the afternoon. Then my dad is coming over to our house for dinner.

Christmas-wake up and do presents w/ just DH. We're heading to his aunt and uncle's around 1pm then going to my parents' house that evening.
Sunday-I really wish we could just stay home and hang out this day...but I've got to suck it up. In the morning we're going to the ILs then to DH's cousin's house at 2. After that we're back out to my parents' house for Christmas with a different side of the family.
I'm going to have to go back to work Monday just to take a break. Unfortunately the two days we work next week are slammed....I'm definitely going to need a vacation!
I wouldn't consider what we do "traditions" although they will probably become traditions after this year.
Christmas Eve: spending it with my IL's. I wanted to spend Christmas Eve with just Ted & I so we could actually do something, just us, for the holiday, but my MIL basically had a fit and got her way. Joy. After tamales with the IL's we're going to drive around & look at Christmas lights. Then Ted & I will go to Target and do our stocking shopping! It's always fun trying to avoid each other so won't see what we're getting each other.
Christmas: In the morning we'll take up early, do presents just us, then go to my BIL's house to open presents with H's family (this is also where my MIL had a fit and subsequently got her way). Then we'll head over to my parents house, open presents with my family, hang out & then have Christmas dinner.

UPDATED 07/28/10 My Planning Bio
Christmas Day - we spend the night before at my parents and wake up early to do gifts and breakfast with them. Then we go to my FIL 's for gifts and "dinner". Then to DH's gma's for dinner number 2 and the kids get gifts. After that we're going to SIL's for gifts and desert with MIL. Finally home for our own gifts. Somebody shoot me now. I won't be eating all of these meals but I will be drinking heavily.
The plan is the same as usual, only with most of it happening at our house this year. That's going to make it a whole lot easier in that we don't have a ton of running around to do, but we will have everyone over.
Christmas Eve - we're going to DH's great uncle's house. We have the same dinner every year and sit around for hours.
The fun thing about it is we do a white elephant and everyone brings basically crap to give away. Which makes for some hilarious moments especially if something is making a second appearance. A few years ago eric thought it would be funny to make a "White Elephant". So he got one of the plastic Play School ones and covered it in white hair from his mom's Lab. Bleh
. Yeah it's so disgusting but someone always brings it back.
Oh and there's always a midnight feeding. Yeah we're fatties.
Christmas - We'll start with doing stockings with just Eric and I. We didn't do any usual gifts this year. Then we'll get together with Eric's side for brunch and do our secret santa exchange. Then we do a secret santa and a dinner with my side followed by games.
My family doesn't really drink in public. Since we're the only open drinkers, all the guys feel comfortable at our house and have no problem drinking in front of the rest.
I'm kind of excited this year because we will have a relatively "light" schedule compared with years past!
Christmas Eve - DH has to work. Right now he will plan on being there until 5 but could get to leave earlier, depending on mood of d-bag boss. I will stay at home cleaning, cooking and doing last-minute things until 3. At that point I'm going over to my mom's to watch my nephew open gifts. At 7, we'll go to my Grandma's (Dad's mom) and after that, we'll go to my cousin's until 10-10:30.
Christmas - we'll open gifts together. Then, DH's dad's, my mom's, my dad's, and possibly DH's uncle's and his mom's...
We normally also fit a brunch in on Christmas Day but his aunt has decided to not take that on anymore. =( When we get a bigger house, I'm ready to start hosting that!
Christmas eve we'll be at DH's family's house since they are 20 min away cooking most of the day. We open gifts at night with everyone
And then Christmas day we're driving to Columbus for my side of the family. I'm so excited b/c my sister will be in town and I usually only see her during xmas time. We always watch xmas vacation
