I'm now remembering why I didn't want to go to the ILs house for Thanksgiving. Every time we visit there's huge drama about where we sleep, since his brothers (first the older, then the younger) stole his room, while leaving their crap in their old rooms. This time it's even worse since Jeff is disabled and needs room to move around and would be better off on the ground floor, so he doesn't have to deal with the stairs. It's like he gets punished for moving out of the house, like a normal adult. He just got off the phone with his mom and I swear, I have to remind myself over and over again that they don't mean to be unwelcoming, insensitive a-holes, they're just extremely illogical and short-sighted.
Serenity now.
Re: Ugh.
That sucks. Hopefully the brothers will gain some common sense overnight.
I just looked at your kitty gets catnip pictures on FB and I'm giggling. My cat doesn't react to catnip but shes been super weird all day. She keeps running into rooms, making a rrrrooooowll noise and then taking off out of the room at top kitty speed.
As I was typing that, she just went skidding into the bathroom making all kinds of gurgling noises. Now she's lying on the floor between the bedroom and bathroom looking at me like "wut? Did I make a noise or something?"

My cat gets in these weird moods where she darts all over at top speed, then just stops, lies down, and starts licking herself like she wasn't freaking out a second earlier.
She's started snoring lately, I think she's a little congested. It's not really a snore, more like a whistle, but it's kinda funny.
She has taken a plastic bag out of the catnip box and carried it under a table.
Ugh is right! Hope it works out once you're there, especially since he's recovering from surgery.
When we visited ILs for Christmas last year, we had similar issues, in that H's sister and niece live with ILs, and use the guest room where we stayed as their "den" - aka the place where ILs have the extra DVR. SIL was obviously bothered that she couldn't be in there whenever she wanted, and our niece was oblivious to the fact that she couldn't just come into H's room whenever she wanted. Like when we're having private time.

We don't try private time in NJ anymore. None of the bedroom doors have locks, and now that everyone keeps stuff in all of the rooms, people are always barging in to get stuff. Plus the brothers stay up super late, usually with one on the computer downstairs and one watching TV upstairs, so there's always someone close by no matter where we get stuck. I think it sucks that Jeff is made to feel like an intruder in the house he grew up in.
We'll be there today, til Monday. But we're taking a train and we're booked up every day - maybe next time, when we have a car, we can get together!
