Stolen Poll: In 2011, I'm Finally. . .

Re: Stolen Poll: In 2011, I'm Finally. . .

  • When I bought my house a year and a half ago, I had a loooong list of improvements to do myself (instead of hiring someone to do the work).  Current list status:  mostly not done.

In 2011, I'm going to make major progress on the list.  All the old lady wallpaper (bathrooms) is coming down.  Every room will be painted.  Stuff will be hung on the walls, bookshelves will be bought and organized.  I will not have any boxes hiding in the back of the closet to unpack, because the contents of those boxes will be stored or disposed of properly.

It's on like donkey kong, 2011!

  • In 2011, I'm finally going to graduate!!
PitaPata Dog tickers Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • Go back to school.  I've had major anxiety about going back to school, and even though I was accepted to an awesome school a year ago after working hard to get in, I delayed starting for a year.  I'm finally going to go and get it done.  I've already registered for Spring semester.

Also, I'm finally going to get in shape.  We joined a gym last month (for my first time ever) and I've been going to classes regularly.  I want to end 2011 feeling better about where I am in my life than I have the last few years.

  • In 2011, we are finally going to remodel our kitchen!

When we bought our house over 4 years ago, we planned to do most of the remodel ourselves. The kitchen was going to be our one splurge and we agreed to hire someone so it could be done well. Long story short, the a-holes made off with over $4000 of our money and most of our kitchen cabinets. We've had shells of cabinets (no doors or drawers) for 4 freaking years! Mostly out of bitterness, we've updated almost the entire rest of the house and I just randomly curse at the kitchen.

So apparently babies learn to move, and open kitchen cabinets are a hazard or something like that. So 2011 will be the year I get a kitchen (along with, obviously, a baby). Once we get our tax rebate, we should have the cash to do it. I'm VERY excited!

  • In 2011, I'm ... getting re-married.

    Say, WHAAA?

Yes. On 1/1/11, in fact. I'm scratching out the 'finally' word, though, because I feel like saying 'finally' insinuates that I've been waiting for it for forever or that I haven't been totally independently happy for the last four years. :)

Hooray!!  I'm very excited and happy for you!  I noticed something on your fb that seemed to indicate that you might be planning a wedding, but I didn't want to call you out.  eeeee!  Congratulations!

So, wanna tell us all about it??  Big Smile

Haha.. sure!  Its not really a secret, but it has been some seriously quick planning!  I think we decided on the date (we both love the number there) maybe six weeks ago.  We're running off to the USVI in a little over a week and are going to do an elopement on a beach, just the two of us.  I'm really excited, but since we moved I have found myself missing having friends around to do things like try on dresses and such.

For some reason, everyone always asks, "What does your mother think?" - she's thrilled. :)

  • Lots of great plans coming up and congrats to Orange!

    I have a couple -

    1. Stick to a workout plan.  We're planning on TTC this year and I want to be as healthy as possible.

    2. Finish grad school.  (Not 'til December but it still counts, right?)

    3. Pay off some small credit cards.

    4. Get LASIK.

    Man, I have a bunch...

  • So, I've been a little MIA lately, but thought I would join in on the fun Big Smile

First congrats to Orangefelt!! That is great news and very exciting!

For me, I am hoping to actually attempt to get back into shape and finally lose the few pounds I've been trying to lose what seems like forever now. Also, I want to focus on actually living - if that makes any sense. This is the first time in a very long time I don't have school taking up all my time and I also don't have anyone other than myself (and my dogs) to think about or take care of and I've never really experienced that. I really hate that it sounds so selfish, but I have to say I'm truly excited about the upcoming year and may it be the best one yet!

  • Congrats to OrangeFelt!!!  I'm so excited for you guys!

     Sorry, I've been MIA too...

In 2011, I'm finally turning thirty.  IndifferentCakeParty!!!  I'm pretty darn excited about this year.

  • Congrats to Orange Felt! So exciting!

Our goal for this year is to start our family (or at least start trying!)

A big congrats to Orange! I love repeating numbers, that's going to be a great day!

    I'm turning 30 too!!! I can't wait!

In 2011 I am going to start living my life with less. My husband and I are going to do some serious cleaning out. We've been reading this website and we're big fans of the idea less is more. I've already started cleaning out a little bit at a time.

We're also cutting out all processed foods and we're planting a garden.

i like this! we'll actually be forced to do that since my brother is moving in with us and putting his house up for rent (he's been unemployed for too long). we're furiously trying to finish getting the only other bathroom painted and updated. then we need to clear out a guestroom for him and figure out what to do with all that stuff.

i'm also turning 30 (yay!), going to europe for the first time, keeping up with my almost-daily yoga practice and *maybe* trying to get knocked up. it should be a big year.

  • Congrats to Orange on her upcoming marrige, and the ladies turning 30, FireCB, that's exciting going back to school!  and Congrats to mimi for getting her PhD!!

    In 2011:

    1. I want to lose the last 10 lbs that has turned into last 15 lbs!!!

    2. Pay off some debt, Student Loan is paid off, I have 2 more CCs to go!

    3. We like to TTC after I have lost the 15 lbs and feeling healthy!

    4. Save up enough money so in 2012 we can buy a house here in DFW.

This is one of my goals, too. We have started to make a list of things we want to get rid of. I just feel like we have so much 'stuff' and I have been really over material possessions lately. I can't really explain it but I just feel like the only missing in our life is a child at this point and I want to rid our life of all the extra 'stuff' and focus on living a healthier, simpler life. I feel like the new year is a good time to finally make it happen.

So the other thing I will finally do in 2011 is be a mother. (If I say it enough times, it will happen, right? :) It's tough to say finally because we've only been TTC for going on 6 months, but I'm just using it because it's part of the game. I hope it does not come off as insensitive.
