Re: 2010 in Review
1. Best thing(s) about 2010? getting married!!!!, spending time with my family and friends during all the pre-wedding stuff, buying our first home together, getting a great raise at work (finally!!!), having my own kitchen to cook in and enjoy (i'm such a dork) and our trip to the Bahamas for our HM.
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? all the overwhelming stress of everything at once! getting married, closing on a house, very demanding job, my side job, and graduate school. i don't know how i did it sometimes. i just took it one single day at a time, and i'm grateful for supportive DH, family and friends.
3. What new things did you learn this year? that being a homeowner is alot of work!!! i also learned how to hang shades and curtains! this was daunting to me for some reason! i also think that learning how to budget and manage money together was important for DH and I. so far so good!
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? finally finishing my master's degree (this is my second actually) so that's a pretty big accomplishment!
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? i love the dining room table and china cabinet we bought - i always wanted a formal dining room, and i love the way it turned out - it was definitely a splurge, but worth it.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? i want to relive my wedding day, it was just too much fun and i want to do it all over again!!! and this time, i would stop taking pictures and go to our cocktail hour. it was amazing and i'm soo sorry i missed it
it's my only regret from the wedding day.
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? celebrating our first anniversary, a nice vacation in the spring (probably to florida?), maybe a new job?, paying off my credit card bill in early january, and taking up a new hobby since i am done with graduate school. i can finally take some leisure time for myself! i'm so used to being swamped, that i'm not sure what to do with my free time! haha1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Our wedding & all the events leading up to it, the honeymoon, buying the house, and being able to decorate our OWN yard.
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? A break-up wth some of my longest-time friends. It could've been avoided, but looking back now I think it was for the best for all parties involved. Also the scare we got with my dad's persistent nosebleeds, and the passing of Mike's uncle Pete, who died the day before we came home from our honeymoon.
3. What new things did you learn this year? That when I post on the Nest for advice or a mere vent, to be a little more vague. I never mention names, but forget that just enough information is enough for the one person in the world who knows who I am on here to read it and throw me under the bus. See #2.
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? Becoming a married lady & home owner.
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? Our house!! But I love my new car too - just miss the convertible sports car in the spring and summer.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? Probably our wedding reception; I would spend more time dancing and visiting, and less time hanging out in the hallway getting pictures taken with everybody.
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? Our anniversary trip to FL to visit all my cousins that couldn't make the wedding.
1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Wedding, HM in the Bahamas, Getting Pregnant, and selling the house!!!
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? We lost a dear cousin of my DH's recently.
3. What new things did you learn this year? To try to work less, although I still can't find a way to make it happen, but with baby coming next year, somethings gotta give...
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? The wedding probably. 10 months of planning, but really 12 years of waiting for that.
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most?I really don't know. No big purchases. By the time we buy our new house, it will be 2011.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? The wedding, just because it was a blast!!!
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? House and Baby!!
Cute idea! 2010 was a hell of a year for us!!
Danielle
1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Absolutley getting married. We also moved back from Florida to NY, which meant I got to be close to family again. That was a biggie.
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? Work being not so stellar for either DH or myself. We both worked a ton of hours and had a lot of stressful nights when we werent so fun to be around. Things are looking up in 2011.
3. What new things did you learn this year? I learned how to sew which I have always wanted to do. I would like to say I learned how to be a better wife to my husband, not that I was a bad wife in the beginning or anything but there is always a learning curve as DH and I learn and grow together.
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? My biggest accomplishment was getting a promotion at my job 8 months after I started. There are people who have been here sitting stagnant for 5 years, so it was a big thing to hear from the owner of the company how impressed he was by my actions, professionalism, and overall attitude.
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? My sewing machine! I havent used it as much as I would like this holiday season but I am glad I did it. I have never really had a hobby that I was really into or really good at, but this is going well so far.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? I would do my wedding over just because it was a freaking blast (I don't know that that was the correct way to take the question). Another moment was when we went to Vegas in June, and I wasn't feeling well. I wish that i had sucked it up a little more, because DH didn't have as much fun as he could have (we still had a blast...but I still felt bad).
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? Buying a house! We are almost where we need to be savings wise to begin the hunt, and my Christmas bonus will definitely help. We are also going to take our honeymoon which we didn't do last year, that will probably be sometime in February.
1. Best thing(s) about 2010?
Marrying the love of my life
Experiencing the joy of pregnancy
Moving into a nicer place (even though we're still renting)
Spending time with family
Taking DH out to visit my family in CA (even though it was for my grandfathers memorial, it was still a lot of fun visiting all aunts, uncles, cousins and their families!)
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010?
BP Oil Spill
Stress with insurance companies
Having grandparents pass away
3. What new things did you learn this year?
To sew
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year?
I'm proud that I'm becoming the wife that I want to be although it may always be a work in progress
I think the biggest accomplishment was getting married and...this is going to sound horrible, getting my hubby to move a little bit away from where he grew up. We're only an hour away, but it is expanding his horizons greatly! It's taken years for him to even consider leaving his immediate area and I really think this is going to be good for all of us.
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most?
I don't really buy myself stuff, and anything I buy now is for the house or baby. I did splurge and buy myself some perfume the other day but it was 20% off! I WILL be buying a new (maybe slightly used) car very soon so that is going to be a big thing that I will love. I will also be buying a piano so I am very excited about that. These will be done at the beginning of the new year though.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why?
The week before our wedding and our wedding day to relive the wonderfulness
Watch out, this is TMI here, but I would want to relive some honeymoon sexy time bc man, it sure can be difficult at times with this big ol belly!
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011?
Becoming a mother and watching DH become a father
Best answer ever.
1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Definitely our wedding and getting to see our friends from OOS who we never get to see
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? lots of things...DH's grandpa passing away over the summer, losing my job, H's accident
3. What new things did you learn this year? anyone can lose their job at any given time, how supportive and awesome my in-laws are, tornadoes on your wedding day only make it that much more memorable
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? our wedding, and everything that went into it, being able to pay off 2 credit cards since the wedding and have another almost paid off
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? probably my new digital camera and our new mattress

2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? My dad's cancer battle (he is cancer free for now!)....every bad side effect that could have possibly happened from his surgery and radiation happened to him.
3. What new things did you learn this year? I'm sure there is something I could write here, but I really can't think of anything at the moment!

April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Yes, of course, marrying my best friend. But also starting my MBA and getting another internship. Slowly but surely losing weight. Down 20 lbs.
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? Exams and well, my internship. Lost one of my BMs as a friend. Hit my all time highest weight (the weight I thought I'd be if I was 9 months pregnant).
3. What new things did you learn this year? Retaught myself how to crotchet.
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? Going back to school and getting great grades.
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? My wedding dress. It is preserved now, but if I could wear it everyday I really would.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? The entire wedding day. Everything went too fast, and we missed out on some things.
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? Quitting my internship, starting my career (fingers crossed!), graduating, hitting my goal weight, moving, and buying a house. 2011 is seriously going to be a whirlwind and I can't wait
)
Make a pregnancy ticker
1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Getting Married, and Our honeymoon in Hawaii!
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? The Wisdom tooth infection I had in March...worst EVER!
3. What new things did you learn this year? Owning a house is expensive, and being married is better then they say
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? hmm...I guess doing well at my job...
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? My wedding dress, and our new computer.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? Definitely our wedding day!
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? Babies!!! and hopefully a new job!1. Best thing(s) about 2010? Getting married and getting pregnant with (what seems to be) a healthy baby! Oh, and having an awesome Thanksgiving with both sets of my parents at FIL's house. Something I NEVER expected would happen. Lots of amazing things in 2010.
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010? My step-grandmother's and DH's grandmother's passing away (but glad we were there to visit with her right beforehand). And our grandparents (all of them) missing the wedding, either due to death or illness.
3. What new things did you learn this year? That morning sickness manifests in more ways than just nausea, and I finally get it when parents say they will do anything for the sake of their children. As much as I hate feeling icky, I can endure it for this little one growing inside. Oh, and that I actually have a good sense of style.
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year? Planning an incredible wedding and working well with my now-husband to pull it off -- AND enjoy every minute of it! That, and successfully managing my department and organizing the dispersal of a traveling exhibition during the craziest summer on record while my boss was on maternity leave.
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most? My pocketbook. It was the first pocketbook I've picked out and purchased for myself in YEARS.
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why? Positive: My wedding day, for the same reasons as everyone else. Negative: I would have forced DH and myself to get cracking with our thank you notes and stick with them to get them finished right away. With everything going on this year since the wedding (work, moving, getting pregnant, family stuff), we've gotten batches out every month, but still aren't done with them, and I feel terrible! I haven't wanted to admit this on the board because you are all so super-organized.
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011? Meeting our little one!

How fun! A little late to the party, but here goes...
1. Best thing(s) about 2010?
Yes, will have to say getting married! After 10 years of dating, it was awesome to finally cement our relationship, and to be able to share it with those who meant the most to us :-)
Also, my wedding brought me and my core group of girlfriends (who were all my BMs) a lot closer, which was really wonderful. Since we all lead very busy lives, it was nice to have events that allowed us to spend time together pampering ourselves, and just doing girly stuff...And my MOH getting married 3 months after me, and my having the chance to be a BM was also a highlight as well!
My new job...a definite plus!
The Knot/Nest! Who knew that website that I found online to help out with planning ideas would lead to wonderful exchanges, and yes, friendship with amazing women from around the world that had a lot in common with me...and whom I would never had met if not for the beauty of the internet?
Being here to see 2010 end :-))
2. Worst thing(s) about 2010?
Sadly, the wedding and planning brought out the worst in a couple family members, which basically forced me to make some hard, tough and yes, even painful decisions. Some I would do over again, and a couple I regret.
3. What new things did you learn this year?
See Number 4!
4. Your biggest accomplishment/proudest moment of the year?
Helping my MOH with her wedding preparations! I did her bouquets, and served as her "coordinator", and I have to admit, although I had never done either before, even I was amazed at a hidden talent that I never knew I had :-) Everything was simply lovely!
5. What was one thing you bought yourself this year that you love most?
I had to say my wedding gown! I bought it myself, and it was by far the most expensive item of clothing I had ever purchased, and I felt so grown up doing it :-)
6. What moment of this year would you do over, and why?
Not much...it wasn't always smooth sailing, but I learned a heck of a lot!
7. What are you looking forward to most in 2011?
Having work done on our house (new kitchen, deck, front porch and roof!), settling into my new job a little more, and just kind of kicking back after a pretty hectic, but amazing, 2010!
