The Upside to Losing your Camera

I couldn't find my camera, and Thom's camera battery was on its last legs (and of course I didn't have the charger). I was pretty upset over not having my camera on Jacob's first Christmas. Thom insisted that it would be fine, because we could just record everything on the Flip.

Turns out, it's good that we had it rolling, because we captured Jacob standing up on his own without holding onto anything. (I removed the video link)

BTW: don't even ask about the nicknames, b/c IDK how we got the names we call him at this point. The poor little guy will probably never know what his real name is b/c we only use it when we're paying attention -- the rest of the time, it's any number of things.

  • Thanks ladies! Kate, I wish I had a picture of the back of those pjs -- there's a cute reindeer on his bottom :)

Summer, be careful of those drumsticks. I think I'm going to hide them until June, because he already stuck one waaay into his mouth I thought he'd gag himself, and then made a beeline to the laptop screen -- that's the part of the video I edited out.

  • OMG what a great gift, that was so adorable good for you guys to have caught it on video!!!
  • OMG that is awsome!!! So great you guys just happened to catch it on video!
  • I was finally able to see it.  What a great gift!

  • I'm dying here because I can't see the video :(. All I see when I click on the link is a still image of cute little Jacob. There's nothing for me to click on to play a video :(. The down-side of my iPad/iPhone. Can someone tell me what he did!?!?

That's all I saw last night too.  When I reopened the link this morning, there was a video underneath the still image.

  • He stood up on his own, without holding onto anything. Well, he was holding on to drumsticks -- but they weren't supporting him. We all clapped (his dad freaked out he was so happy!) and Jacob squealed with excitement. Then he did it again and, again, his dad freaked out he was so surprised that it wasn't just a one-time thing! :)
