how do you remove your snow???
We remove our own 1/8 mile driveway via snowblower. Seems like a
monumental task right now...I just went out to shovel the steps and a
path in for DH (all I am willing to do with a baby monitor in tow) and
it's all covered up again. And DH is working his usual 4pm-12 today,
got ordered in for 4am to 8am and then is working 4pm-12 tomorrow. When
are we going to dig ourselves out? Don't get me wrong, I love snow. I
just want there to be a canopy over our driveway. Beginning to think
we may not be removing our own this year if this is what's coming. How
do you remove your snow?

Re: how do you remove your snow???
We eat ours. It can be rough on big storms or after the plows do the end of the driveway... I'm not a fan of the salt and sand in my teeth.
Oh wait, what? No, that's not right. We have a snowblower (thanks in-laws for moving to FL so we could take all the winter stuff!) that we do the driveway and sidewalks with. And by "we" I mean th hubby. If it's really bad, DH does the mailbox walkway too. The other walks and stairs are shoveled or swept by either of us- usually DH. Our driveway isn't that big and every now and again Portland will get the sidewalk plow guy out and we don't have to do our sidewalk.
We have a plow guy, when he chooses to come is unknown. A storm of this size, yes, but last storm no and it froze into ice piles. We shovel in front of our garage and our deck, but he does the large 20 or so parking spots. That's a blessing.
When we get a house, my dad will almost positively come plow us out. My poor dad has to plow their HUGE driveway, then all his job sites (he's a general contractor), then a couple older people that he has helped over the years. Then my brother's house, and their rental property. It becomes quite a busy day for my pops.
LOL!
My landlord hires a guy with a plow to do the parking lot, but we shovel off our own porches/steps and dig out around the cars. I think we're supposed to have buckets of salt/sand on the porches too for ice, but so far no buckets, plenty of ice!
DH has a big fancy snowblower. Snow removal is his job!
For Christmas his parents bought him a cab for his snowblower. Excellent timing.
EDITED - I got off my butt and took a pic of current events --
1970 JD 140 we got from my parents' back yard where it had sat for 8-10 years, that my dad got used. MH fixed it and is using it to snow blow as we speak. However, it only works with large amounts of snow, b/c it is a single stage blower.
If you know of a two-stage blower attachment for a vintage John Deere 140 Lawn Tractor for cheap let me know!
Sounds like you need a plow or a plow guy for a driveway that long.
Normally, DH uses his big, heavy, expensive snowblower on our 3X1 car length driveway, and the spot in front of the house.
THIS storm, he's in not-so-sunny Florida, and I'm home alone - sick and pregnant. I rammed the SUV through the banking at the end of the driveway this morning, then called a snowplow guy. Totally worth the $20 and peace of mind, although, it's snowing again here...
