Mandee

What lens did you get? In-laws got us a Nikon 3100 so now I'm drooling over lenses and creating a wish list :)

Re: Mandee

  • I got a 50mm f1.4 lens! I absolutely love it. it's a little more difficult to work with since it's a fixed lens, but I love that it allows ME to do all the work. I quit shooting in auto a while ago, but this new lens is definitely a challenge to learn. I love it though... the pictures are AMAZING.

  • Awesome!  I need to do some more research.  I was looking at a 28-75mm.  I'm anxious to try something other than the kit lens.  I think a fixed lens would be fun...I tend not to adjust mine anyway.

Didn't you buy a camera strap on etsy?  Do you remember the seller?  I have my eye on this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/61965192/camera-strap-apples-and-leaves  (or one like it) I love the idea of a lens cap pocket.

***Edited to correct stupid grammar/spelling error***

  • Butting in...Mandee, you are going to rock that lens!  I can't wait for you to post some photos!

I loooove that camera strap! I tend to just put the lens caps in my camera bag after I attach the lens to the base, but I love the idea of the cap pocket! the etsy seller I got mine from it masonjarholdings, but it doesn't look like she has many on there anymore. I think $27 is a good price for one though!

what lens are you using now? I think the 28-75mm would be a good fit, but I would go even higher if you really want to get some zoom action. personally my next zoom lens will probably be a 55-250mm. then again, you will probably be able to use the 28-75mm more with Emmett since he's never too far away! ;)

dude. I love it. I seriously don't even want to shoot with anything else now! it's so much fun trying to get the right amount of focus for the photo, and trying to focus on something in the background as opposed to the foreground. I'm addicted!

  • That lens is so sharp too, it is such a great lens.

I'm stalking your blog and waiting for you to post some photos with that lens!  I'll cut you some slack because it's the holidays, but I better see some up there soon! Stick out tongue You are so good about keeping up with your blog and the photo challenge, I am so unmotivated.  Have you considered doing a 365 or a 52-project?

  • I actually posted a few on my FB already... just haven't had the patience to upload them to the blog just yet, since I have another 150 or so to go through. I'll probably do them tonight though, so stay tuned!

I considered doing a 365 project, but then I thought that maybe it would make photography turn out to be a chore instead of something fun, know what I mean? I like the photo challenges, cause I like having specific images to take! :)

  • I hear you on the 365, I tried it last year and failed miserably.  It just wasn't fun and I felt obligated to take photos and they were crap.  I may do a 52 week project this time and incorporate it with one of the photo challenges or a Photo of the Week challenge that is on one of my photography forums.  Not sure yet, but I just want to challenge myself but still keep my hobby fun.

Off to check out your FB...

  • exactly! that's why I love the photo hunts, cause it really does challenge me. I just took my first bokeh this weekend, and I was obsessed with it... trying to take the perfect one, haha.

the ones on FB are just from Christmas Eve, but the ones from Christmas Day will have more with the 50mm lens. the only ones in the CE album that were taken with the 50mm are the ones at the end of the cats, haha. go figure.
