How much does your insurance vary month to month? We have our house and two cars through state farm, and our bill varies by sometimes $80 each month. Please tell me this is not normal! Every time we call they explain why the cost is different, but I just want to know if others have more stable insurance rates. We are going to be calling around tomorrow to see if we need to switch, but I'm really interested to know if other people's monthly bills are more steady than ours.
Any thoughts? I feel like I probably don't know anything about insurance rates but I'm hoping this is something we can change...

Re: Car Insurance Q
My Profile
That is so strange. We have two cars through State Farm, my term life insurance, my engagemnt ring rider policy, and our house insurance and it never varies except at the 6th month period for the cars. We have full coverage on both cars too. I pay monthly on my car, on my DH's car we pay ever 6 months, on the house we pay once per year, and my life insurance is monthly.
I wonder what is going on with your policy. I would be upfront with your agent and let them know that you are going to cancel if they keep on adjusting it. My DH works at the company so they take customer service very seriously.
The agent isnt the one making the adjustments.
This may be true, but the agent should have some answers for them as to why the rate is adjusting. At least I hope the agent would have some answers. If not, I personally would switch companies. I don't want to be with an insurance company/agent that doesn't know what's going on with my policy. Lord knows what kind of mess there might be if you needed to make a claim.
Thanks for everyone's input! I called today and they explained why the bills are all different. I just feel like I can't tell anything at all from the paper bills and feel like an idiot since apparently I just need to call and ask them to explain.
I am still annoyed at all of the changes, but now at least we know what our bill should be every month. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out... or we'll be doing some shopping for sure!
Oh the agent should know somewhat of what the changes should be for, etc. We are notified of stuff but sometimes a customer makes so many different changes so many times that their monthly acct tries to catch up.
I am glad that it was explained to you. Those stupid paper ones are hard to understand some times. I feel the pain. I have the joy of having all my stuff where I work at because then I can see it all the time. Glad all worked out for you
