How often do you clean your carpets?

I have a little Bissel quicksteamer, and never think to use it. How often do you clean your carpets?

I think it depends on how much traffic you have in your house (kids, pets, guests, etc). I'd do professionally once a year, but since you have a quicksteamer, maybe 1 a quarter?

Spot clean as needed, full cleaning 1-2 times per year in high traffic areas, every 1-2 years in low traffic areas. We do ours every couple years as we don't wear outdoor shoes on the carpet and don't have kids or dogs.

Just be careful about cleaning your carpet with soaps or detergents too frequently. Soap residue attracts and clings to dirt. Hot, hot water, no "cleaner" added works really well and will not leave a residue to potentially stain. When needed, use an enzyme cleaner with a low ph so that there's no sticky residue left behind.

agreed, it depends on the traffic. I carpet shampoo mine every couple of months but I have two dogs and cream carpets. I vacuum every couple of days so I think I am being good but everytime I shampoo the carpets its like a little reality check because they are SO filthy!

I do them once a year when I do my spring cleaning.

With a LO, I just dont have time to do them more often.
