What have you heard about it? It's not what I was expecting at. all. It was actually quite disturbing. Despite hating the movie though I think Natalie Portman will for sure win some kind of award for her performance.
And yay for her and her bebeh.

Everyone I have known that saw Black Swan really liked it. So you hated it Kidzdoodle? Interesting. I haven't seen it. I'd like to, but I imagine I won't get to see it until it's released on Demand.
I'm wondering what Kizdoodle thought Black Swan was going to be about. It is a Darren Aronofsky movie, did you think it was going to be Center Stage part deux?
I really want to see it.

It is definitely dark.
That style of movie isn't my favorite to begin with but coupled with the fact that we were stuck in town Friday night due to bad roads in Iowa and were missing the big family Christmas Eve dinner I wasn't really in a good mood from the beginning. That movie made my mood much worse. We really should have gone to Little Fockers or something stupid and fluffy. I still don't think I'd like Black Swan if I wasn't already having a bad day.
For what it's worth, even though I didn't like it, it was really well done. If that makes sense.
I had heard the synopsis but admit I am not familiar with Darren Aronofsky. It was a last minute decision to go to a movie so DH suggested that one. I knew it wouldn't be like Center Stage but didn't know quite what to expect.
I can see people either loving or hating this movie. I don't picture anyone having lukewarm feelings for it.

I saw requiem for a dream for the first time not that long ago. Awesome. It really brought home the "just say no" message. I can't believe I had never seen that before.

You might like Requiem. It was a lot different than The Wrestler. I liked The Wrestler a lot, but I know a lot of ppl that hated it. Both are dark, but Requiem for a Dream is a lot more intense and interesting, I think.

I saw that. I'm guessing Hef is hoping for some publicity to get the money flowing again.
I can't even imagine how Holly must be taking the engagement news.

Yeah, they are very different movies. I know a lot of people who didn't like The Wrestler, but I don't know anyone who didn't love Requiem. Even my dad loved it and he usually only likes movies that involve explosions, runaway trains and/or Bruce Willis.
In other movie news, we loved True Grit. It was SO good. The girl who plays Mattie was fantastic.

Dying to see that too.
One of the dealbreakers for Holly and Hef I think was she wanted his babies and that is why he never proposed. I am guessing the new girl does not (at least not until she is on her second marriage after Hef passes away) and that is why she got the ring.
Natalie Portman's fiance was living with his longtime girlfriend when he began working on the movie. I imagine she is not feeling so great right about now.
I will wait till OnDemand for Black Swan. Did not like The Wrestler- too much hype I think, by the time we saw it. Expected, more. It was slow. The only thing I enjoyed was seeing my friend Scott play the steroid dealer. Until I saw him on the news in a police chase going to jail for taking the part too seriously.
We did see The Fighter the other day and thought it was excellent. I love Marky Mark even if he does play pretty much the same character every time- a little dumb, kind of quiet, but triumphs in the end.
I'm sure they're destined to make it. I mean, what famous couple dates and gets pregnant in less than a year and DOESN'T stay together for the long haul?
We saw True Grit on Christmas Night. I loved it the girl who played Mattie stole the show and Matt Damon was hilarious as LeBeef. I really want to go see the Fighter.
I really want to see this. I think it might be worth a babysitter.
I hated the Wrestler. It was just slow and boring and never went anywhere.
