What are you reading?

Merry Christmas ladies!  I hope everyone is enjoying their first married Christmas!

We had Christmas with DH's family Thurs. night.  My fabulous MIL bought me a kindle!  We don't have to be to my family's until later today, so I have been browsing Amazon for books to read this morning, and I am so overwhelmed! There are so many I want to read, and I just don't know where to start.

So...... what are you reading, or what have you read recently that you love?  What is your all time favorite?

Re: What are you reading?

  • Merry Christmas! I love any of Chelsea Handler's books for a good laugh. I also asked DH for "I Do, Now what" by Bill and Guiliana Rancic. I haven't read it but I heard it's good book and it kind of applies to our lives right now.

  • I love chick lit.  I am reading Jennifer Weiner's Fly Away Home right now and it is pretty good.  I read her book, Best Friends Forever, over the summer and that was really good too.  I also like the books by Emily Giffin and Julie Buxbaum. Happy reading!
  • My favorite chick-lit ever is Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella.  I love all her stuff, and also love Marian Keyes (although some of them are a little dark).
  • I started rereading Breaking Dawn last night.  It was one of my presents.  I am looking forward to reading The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larson and House Rules by Jodi Picoult, both were also gifts!

  • I've been looking for books to add to my kindle, also.  I recently finished the last of The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo series, and I loved all three books (although it took a little time to get into the first one).

  • I've read all 3 Stieg Larsson books and highly reccomend them if you like mystery. Jodi Piccoult writes great, but heartbreaking stories that are usually about controversial "real life" topics. Marian Keyes, Jennifer Wiener, and Emily Giffin are also favorite authors for chick lit. www.goodreads.com is a great website for getting book reccomendations. Have fun with your new toy!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions ladies! Happy reading to all!
  • One of my favorite books is The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. There is also a sequel, Knit Two. I highly recommend both!
  • Right now I am reading Emma by Jane Austen.  I got a collection of 7 of her novels for Christmas from DH.  Our new tradition is to give each other (and eventually our kids) a book each Christmas eve to build our library and show our kids the importance of reading.  So we'll end up with a bunch of books labeled "Christmas 20-whatever to count the years we've been married.

However, I highly recommend "The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake" by Aimee Bender.  It's awesome.

  • I am going to read House Rules too.  My MIL loaned it to me.  My SIL was reading it though and quit in the middle b.c. she said it was too depressing so I will have to see how it goes. I am going to check out some of you guys' other recommendations too!!
  • I'm currently rereading the HP series for the umpteenth time (only on book 2).  I don't think I will ever get tired of those books :)  As for good recent reads, I would say, The Book Thief, The Name of the Wind, and The Hunger Games Trilogy were all excellent.
