What are you doing for New Years?

I have zero plans and am debating attempting to throw something together.  What are your plans for NYE?

Re: What are you doing for New Years?

  • Since I don't even want to contemplate finding and paying a babysitter for NYE, we are doing our big night out tomorrow at Momofuku Ko.  Super excited about that.  Friday we are going to get together with another couple that also has a baby about Mucho's age and eat, drink, be merry, have a slumber party, then watch football the next day.

  • The same thing we do every year:  staying in by ourselves and cooking a good dinner.  That reminds me I need to order our prime rib tomorrow.
  • They are talking about another Snowmageddon here so we'll probably be stuck at home.  We invited friends over but it's up in the air whether they'll make it or not.

  • We're doing what we've done for the last few years. We go to another couple's house, pig out on dips and apps, drink beer and jello shots, play shuffleboard, and have pudding shots for dessert.
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • We're taking the train to Chicago with two of my best friends and their husbands on Thursday. We're all staying in a nice hotel downtown and going to a party at a college friend's place on Friday. Coming home Saturday naught. I'm really excited. I usually hate new years.

  • We started putting feelers out about a month ago to see if anybody would be interested in coming over to our house.  Everybody gave us the deer* in headlights look, so we figured we were rolling solo.

It now looks like we will have three couples (in addition to us), plus two kiddos (in addition to Andy).  We will be having a sleep over.  We are still trying to figure out where 8 adults and three kids are going to sleep.  But, we can make it work.  I love our new house.

    *ETcorrect stupidity.  Really, dear?

  • We're going to a frined's house, about an hour away.  One of the things I'm most looking forward to when we get the baby is being able to say 'sorry, can't find a sitter' and bailing on plans that involve me driving an hour away to watch a bunch of drunks on the teevee.

We will likely be playing Glee *vom* karaoke.

  • Probably staying in and making lots of yummy food and getting hammered. And playing drunk Wii. Which is usually how our weekends normally play out.

  • Well I did get a very tempting invite to stay in Fitty's dog chalet, but alas my teleporter is on the fritz.

I was really hoping my one friend would have another party because last year was awesome and perfect but he isn't. Boooo. My other friend is DJing at a bar and it's tempting because it's 90s night but ugh, Allston on New Years. Other friends have a table at a fancy dance party thing downtown, but $$$.

In other words, I am being Goldilocks and some plans are too hard and some plans are too soft and nothing is just right.

  • Same as Kay, we usually stay in and cook a nice dinner. Typically it's steak, but we're on Weight Watchers now and we'll go to my parents' place New Year's Day for a prime rib dinner so we may do shrimp or something. Who knows. Though we did get invited to a party, but we have no sitter.

  • Throwing a partay! There are still three large crates available (two-night minimum stay) in the dog house if anyone wants to come.

  • We are going to have my neighbors come over and play Wii and other games and get very drunk.  No one needs to drive and she doesn't need to find a sitter because her ex h just told her that he can no longer take the kids for NYE (which was the original agreement).
  • I have no idea. I was invited to a party out of town but the logistics of getting a pnp and putting Ben to bed and then crashing there is enough to make me want to just stay home and watch movies, eat apps and drink some champagne.
  • My mom is here, but she leaves on New Year's Day and asked if we'd mind not going on our date the night before she goes home, so we're going out tomorrow to eat some food and drink some beers. On NYE we'll probably play games and attempt to get my mom drunk on bellinis.

  • I believe I'm crazy, because I'm running a midnight 5k race with my sister and BIL. There will be live music, fireworks, food, and booze, so basically it's a party, but the Race Into New Year starts at 11:45, so I should be running at midnight.

  • That sounds so cool Wendy!

A friend is having a party, but they are spending the day snowboarding/tubing at a place about two hours away first. It's looking to be between -25 and -30 celcius that day so, yeah, no thanks.

Our bffs (A med resident and a nurse) just got back from a medical mission in Africa today, so we met them at the airport and told them the NYE plans. They promptly agreed that we should skip the snowboarding, hang out together instead for some food, movies and wii, and then see if we feel like hitting up the party when everyone gets back later in the evening. So I'm pretty pumped about that, I meesed them.
