So how many times

over the holidays did family members ask when you were having kids?  If I had a dollar for every time we were asked, I would have a nice pocket full of money.  I just don't understand why people think it is ok to just ask that....I certainly don't of other people.

Re: So how many times

  • I hear ya!  DH's sister keeps asking, "So, when will Ian (her 1 year old) get a cousin?"  Ugh.  Every time I see her.  His mom actually started talking about grand kids before we got married!!!!  I know they love us, but seriously...?!

  • My one sister is especially bad with this!  It doesn't surprise me though because I was dating DH for about a month before she started talking about us getting married.

  • I didn't take my coat off right away when we got to DH's family Christmas. This started a rumor that I was pregnant and was trying to conceal it lol! Also, while out at the bar the night before Christmas Eve, I was asked twice if I was pregnant because I wasn't drinking. A) I was DDing. B) I never drink when we go out. And I can't even count how many times I was asked when we were going to have kids.
  • We actually didn't get it at all, but we've been very vocal over the fact that we want to be in a house and I want to be tenured before we have kids.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

  • I was only asked once... on Christmas Eve after mass at the Basilica.  It was my grandmother's friend who I hadn't seen since our wedding.  It was the only time but it was enough to make me mad.  Really... we just got a puppy... and I think puppies are worse than babies!  It will be a while, people!

  • We didn't get asked at all though his family knows that we plan to wait a while. But Chris and I did have a conversation about when we will start ttc...sometime in 2012

  • We didn't get asked once! We have a lot of friends who are expecting, but both my mom and my MIL are on the "we're too young to be grandmothers" wagon....so no one bring it up, except my 11 year old brother who spent the entire week before the wedding asking when he got to be an Uncle. I think my mom said something to him, though, because that stopped after we got back from the honeymoon.

Funny thing is, DH and I are probably going to start TTC soon, so it will be a big surprise to them if it happens!

  • We didn't get asked at all either.  But money is going to be so tight with DH going back to school that I think pretty much everyone knows its not really an option for a few years.

I am guilty of bugging his brother about when I'll get to be an Aunt though... Oops!  I'll have to tone that down.

  • I just think it's funny.  Neither of our parents ever really question it, although when my MIL was taking our annual picture in front of her tree, she said, "this is your first married picture, maybe your picture next year you will be ballooned up."  Ha, I had to laugh.  It's more extended family who I think doesn't have anything else to converse about, so they immediately think to ask when we plan to have a baby.  We laughed more about it than anything, but I was curious about your experience!
  • our parents dont really ask us (thank goodness) but the extended family ALWAYS does. mine and his. we only saw his this christmas and of course we were asked and they joke about it and stuff. it actually REALLY bugs me. can't they understand that if they asked LAST week and i said we werent ready and we'll be waiting for QUITE SOME TIME that a week more isn't going to change things?

I just think its rude to keep asking when someone has clearly stated that its not hapening any time soon.

  • Zero!  I love that no one bugs us about this!  Although we didn't really see much extended family.  That might have something to do with it.
