Returning: Sweater from MIL, I keep telling her NOT to get my clothes, and ever year without fail she does
Giftcards: None
Favorite - Kindle 3 and iPhone 4. Can't decide. Love them both.
Returning - No. DH had to return some sleep pants I got him. They were to small. But we did that already and got the right size.
Gift Cards - This is the majority of the gifts I got. I love gift cards! I save them for a rainy day. I don't have a clue what I want to get with them yet.
Favorite - my parents got a new dryer for DH and I. Ours is old and doesn't work well at all. Takes 2 cycles to get heavy shirts like a pull over sweatshirt dry.
Returning - a scarf my sister bought. I feel bad because she thinks it is just the coolest thing and I just really think it is butt ugly and not warm at all. She did tell me she wasn't sure if I'd like it and wouldn't be offended if I returned it. So theres that...
Gift Cards - got tons and I'm super excited. I told everyone I wanted a finished kitchen for Christmas so there were a lot of home depot gift cards coming my way. Can't wait.
And I'll add my worst Christmas gift this year (actually - make that ever). DH's aunt is very creative and makes fairy type gifts that she sells on ebay. Fairies aren't my thing nor is anything with crystals and that type of stuff on it. I understand that some folks like that type of stuff and to each their own - I just don't like it personally. She made every single girl in the family a bedazzled vintage music box. Mine has a swan on it. Picture hundreds of crystals glued on a round music box with a bedazzled swan on it.
She also made us a diorama of what she imagined our wedding would look like and gave it to us as a wedding gift so there is past precedence for this type of stuff. I feel bad because it obviously took a long time to do all that work but I will NEVER have it out EVER. Ever. Did I say EVER?? lol - I need a white elephant party to go to so I can get rid of some of this stuff.
Favorite: I got an iPad from my ILs (well, they got the iPad when they bought their new car in November & kept the iPad a secret. They already had an iPad and knew I wanted one, so I got it!) which is pretty amazing. I also got a tilly | maison tray which I had been crushing on for a while, and a bird feeder for our backyard! I have been really wanting a bird feeder but just hadn't bought one, so I am glad I got one!
Returning: A large glass serving bowl, only because my MIL misunderstood what I wanted. I wanted entree salad/pasta bowls (large but low lipped bowls that would be for a single person's serving, not a large serving bowl to dish out of) so she's going to exchange it for the items that I wanted.
Gift cards: We got a few gift cards that we'll use within a month or so.

What was your favorite present? It's a tie. DH got me a little netbook that I've been asking for. But he also got me a diamond bracelet that I wasn't expecting at all.

Will you be returning anything? I had to return two shirts from DH; they were not my style and thankfully, didn't fit. He felt SO terrible so I got my Valentine's Day gift early {see above}

If you got gift cards, will you use them right away or save them for a rainy day? - save. my boss got me a GC to Sanctuary and I JUST got my hair done about a week ago so i don't need that yet and lars got me a $75 card to Aveda but i buy the 1 liter bottles of product so it takes me a LONG time to go through them.
this is going to make me sound incredibly ungrateful but i was really hoping for the iPad or the Uggs i had on my Amazon wish list but didn't get either. : (
the best part of christmas though was that i had an INCREDIBLE year of GIVING! i NAILED so many gifts. it was awesome to see people so excited about what i got them and that they were the right style/size/item that they wanted. it made me giddy. I also gave out ideas to family for items for lars and parker that weren't on their "lists" and they were thrilled with them as well. parker got a SWEET hockey bag that he hadn't asked for and I think it's one of his favorite gifts!
What was your favorite present? A TV for our bedroom. It's AMAZING.

If you got gift cards, will you use them right away or save them for a rainy day? Well we got a voucher to stay at a B&B in Stillwater but we'll probably save that till it's nicer out.
Favorite gift - Would have to be the Santa my Mom made out of my Grandpa's wool blanket (who passed away many years ago). She made over 20 of them & sent it to everyone in the family so we can all have a part of him.

Gift Cards - I don't really hold on to them very well, Once I see something I like I buy it.
What was your favorite present? My Tiffany necklace from DH and the acoustic guitar he got me (the guitar was for our 5 year anniversary- traditional gift item is wood).
Will you be returning anything? MIL got me a very not 'me' guitar strap. Sad part is she described it to DH and DH specifically told her do NOT buy that one, and she still did. Unfortunately it's not worth returning because she ordered a clearanced one online. I also got one other unmentionable gift that I completely dislike and it's turned into a bit of a joke between DH and I. I won't return it though, just cause I feel too bad. Oh yeah and I got two Taylor Swift CD's so I returned one of those yesterday. Otherwise I love everything else we got!

eta: DH's kooky aunt got every person in the family a Sing-A-Ma-Jig. I have NO IDEA why. She bought 19 of these things. I'm kind of glad we missed CHristmas Eve dinner because I guess all 19 of them were singing at once. :-/
They make the most obnoxious sounds ever...what are we supposed to do with them??? It's like a cartoonish sex doll with those lips.
What was your favorite present? The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook my H gave me! It is such a cool cookbook (has background history of the dishes, and explains where in the Harry Potter series it's from), and I'm super excited to make some of the fun treats.
Will you be returning anything? Nope! It was a good Christmas this year.

I got a lot of gift cards to B&N this year, and I'm anxious to add to my classroom library, but I'm forcing myself to wait for a little bit before buying any. The Starbucks cards, on the other hand, will be used right away :-)

No they are definitely for kids and not dogs. I just don't know why DH's aunt thought everyone would WANT one. She's a little off-the-mark sometimes. :-)
Speaking of dogs though we played the sounds for Renzo and first he was terrified of it and then he started barking at it.
Favorite- Nook and my perfume that they don't make anymore but my mom found it!

What was your favorite present? An enameled cast iron dutch oven or the GC for a massage from DH. Can't decide.

OMG the kids in our family got these too....and thought the same thing with their lips. Thankfully we only have 4 kinds in our family, we couldn't quite figure out how to get them to "jabber" back and forth. First time I ever heard or saw these things, they are kind of ugly.
Best:Tied. DH and I got each other a 46 TV and electric fireplace. My dad got me Coach gloves and my sister got me a nook

GC: We did get some GC, but to Outback, AMC and a few other food places, so we will wait on those for a bit.

Favorite - my sister got me the 3 Sweet Potato Queen books I didn't have yet - also got a few Monopoly sets from my brother (I'm kind of a junkie), and VERY generous monetary gifts from parents.
Will you be returning anything? Nope! Pretty much everything is useful.
If you got gift cards, will you use them right away or save them for a rainy day? We got some great gift cards....grocery store, Kmart/Sears, JCP, D1ck's, Cabella's, Lowe's, Menards, Ace, and Fleet Farm. I'll be doing some shopping this spring - but I think most of it will be for my house.
I'm with strength - my favorite part this year was watching others open their gifts, especially my niece and nephews. Big D picked out some LOUD toys for those boys. My niece likes Star Wars, so I got her a Star Wars apron and cookie cutters that she was really excited about. A little bummed that one of my gifts for my dad didn't make it in time and I'll probably have to trace it to make sure it's not lost.
