What brand is your stand mixer? I wanted the Kitchen Aid as well a few years ago, but MIL and Chris researched and the one I got the Cuisinart was rated way better. It also has a bigger bowl size and other options that the kitchen aid didn't have.

It's a Hamilton Beach All Metal Eclectrics. It was rated best buy by consumer reports so it seems like it might be good. The only negatives I've seen about it that when you do really heavy dough on high speeds it shakes, it doesn't have any accesories attachments like the kitchenaid, and that the mixing attatchments height is not adjustable.
However, I may keep it and consider it a "starter mixer". It ended up being half price wich is like a third of what the kitchenaid would be, so I am leaning towards that and then seeing how it goes. If I want to upgrade later, I certainly can. But for right now, I don't see why this one wouldn't work for me for doing basic baking.
