What are your New Years plans?

For the eve and day of?

And has anyone heard anymore about this potential winter storm coming just in time for the holiday??

Re: What are your New Years plans?

  • We have no plans this year...I'm kind of okay with that.  I'm thinking I'll make a nice dinner and we'll rent some movies.

If the storm predictions are right...I'll really be okay with it!

  • On NYE we get a ton of junk food and a pizza and watch movies all night.  We've done this every year since we met.

New Years Day we are supposed to go to my ILs for dinner and games with them and some family friends.  If the storm comes we won't be going though.  I am kinda excited about another storm, I love them on the weekends.

  • I heard it was going to warm up enough to rain on Thursday and then freeze.  Yuck!  We are going to Pittsburgh Blue for dinner and if it doesn't rain, we'll be driving to NE to celebrate with friends.  If it freezes, we'll be staying home!
  • The hubs got NYE off from work, and we're going to sleep in and then go out for Italian some place nice for dinner.

New Years day I'm supposed to run a 5K race that morning (praying that the storm doesn't last that long and cause some major issues), and then we're coming home, playing our annual New Years game of Scrabble and doing some fondue and drinking wine the rest of the day. Looking into going to a movie that night.

DH and I both had to work all Christmas weekend at our respective hospitals (and DH's bday is Christmas day), so we're really looking forward to some quality time and actual holiday plans for once where we don't have to work!

Scratch that. My husband just informed me we'd been invited to a party at his friends' house, but he forgot to mention it to me. Looks like we'll be headed there, unless the weather is bad.

  • We'll probably go to a friend's party that's nearby.  No sense driving far if the roads are going to be bad.

  • We're having about 10 people over at our place.  I'm hoping the storm won't come, not sure who will show up if it does!

Not sure what we're doing New Years Day - probably just hanging out and watching movies.

  • Well just stay in, rent some movies and make a nice dinner. Our normal "tradition" and we are normally in bed by 9.
  • We are going to dinner with a big group of friends and then to The Dog House in Maplewood. But I am with everyone else, if it is crappy out I am staying home with a bottle of wine!

  • we were invited to 2 different theme parties but with one of our dogs still on the mend and neither of us really feeling like hunting for costumes, we decided to just have a small group of people over at our place for games, Will and breakfast the following morning.

hopefully we can get some relaxing in there somewhere but we do also need to etch and paint the floor in the basement workout room and will be getting carpet installed down there. home stretch on the basement project!

  • Christmas with my in-laws during the day and in the evening just hanging at home. Haven't gone out since having kids, so it's just a given that we stick around home.
  • Not sure yet. We are invited to a couple of gatherings (two friends that I haven't seen in ages and would LOVE to see! Difficult choice . . .) but DH might have a band rehearsal so that would rule doing much of anything. If he did have a rehearsal, he would be home before midnight -  but late enough to rule out doing anything. And then there is the weather . . . but I think this forecast will be all bark and no bite.

All that might not matter anyhow as I have been feeling like crap - dh too - and we both think we may be coming down with a post-holiday bug. Grrrrrreat. Of course, if my cat would just let me get one night of decent sleep instead of punishing me (yes, only me, DH sleeps through his antics) for taking him with us to my father's for Christmas, then maybe I could tell if this painful exhaustion I'm feeling is due to lack of sleep or something else.

  • We are attempting to go to a friends house for a small get together of people, food and board games. I told them that being 33 weeks pregnant, I probably will not be very fun and that we might have to leave early if the weather gets bad or I get too uncomfortable.

  • We're going to a party at a friend's place.  We were initially going to drive up to the cabin to go to a party someone's having at a cabin in the area but with the possible winter storm, we decided to stay closer to home.
  • We are going to friend's party.  It is not too far from our place so I think we'll cab it home.  I am looking forward to it as the hostess just got engaged so it will be double the celebration : )

  • DH wants to see a Johnny Cash Tribute band at Whiskey Junction.  I'm hoping the snow isn't too bad so that we can go.  I bought a prime rib on sale and I'm roasting that and having sides that we normally don't eat at home like creamed spinich, roasted mashed potatoes with garlic/cream/rosemary, green beans with butter garlic sauce, homemade french bread and homemade ice cream.  If it's bad weather I suppose that we're going to be eating and watching movies all night.
