I just got in from shoveling the back steps front steps, front walk, and part of the driveway, and it's ugly out there. Freezing and windy with killer gusts. I finally gave up and sent H out, though I was trying to do this since he was out for hours last night frying the turkey. I just couldn't finish. What happened to the teens with shovels? When I was a kid, teen guys used to go around with shovels and my mom would pay them to do it. And then make them got chocolate. I'd happily pay some kids and make them hot chocolate. Where are they?

We used to do that! We would advertise on light poles (which my mom promptly took down because they had our home phone on them).

Kids these days are lazy.

They're all inside where it's warm! My theory is that their parents buy them everything they want and give them an allowance, so being paid to shovel snow just isn't appealing.

It's probably true, no incentive tp work. Or maybe parents aren't letting them since people's fear of strangers seems to be stronger now than it was when I was a kid

Well, now I've got a heating pad on my neck. I've got a bad twinge on the right side of my neck where it meets my shoulder, pain across the middle of my back, and a shooting pain down towards my left kidney. And I realized something - I forgot that I slipped and fell in the kitchen yesterday, twisting and falling into the bakers rack, and landing on my right hip and inner wrist. Bet some of this is from wrenching everything yesterday and shoveling was a huge mistake.
