I was informed last night that some friends are separating. The wife has been having an affair with a third friend for over a year. They (the separating couple) have 2 kids, one of whom is just a couple weeks older than Evie. So they got together either right before she got pregnant with # 2, or right after. Who starts an affair while pregnant? The cheaters had an affair like 7 or 8 years ago too, before either couple was married, and I was kind of surprised that both couples lasted through it. But once they all got married I figured it was over. It's nuts.
My niece has been kind of driving me nuts while she's been here. Part of me hopes it's just her and that I don't find all 6 year olds annoying, since I'll have some 6 year olds eventually, but that also makes me sad since I used to think she was so awesome. Maybe it's just an annoying phase and she'll grow out of it.
Re: Things
Agh. Suck dude. Our close friends are going through a bit of a rough patch right now. I don't think there is any infidelity, but I do think she is going through a mid-life crisis of sorts. She is talking about leaving. It makes me sad. They have two kids and have been together for years.
I'm sure your niece will snap out of it. If she was once cool, I'm sure it will come back. As opposed to my niece who, just for the sake of attention, pushed Andy down and gave him a bloody lip the week before Christmas. This was the direct cause of me lying to the ILs telling them I had to work on Christmas day so that we could skip out on spending anymore time with them. I'm pretty much done with them.
That sucks about your friends. I'm guessing if they cheated 7 years ago and again recently with each other that reconciliation is pretty pointless.
It's probably a phase. I was super annoying around that age. Of course, then I became an obnoxious teenager after that. So, um, relish the remembories you have of her.

Not to mention six y/o's are losing their baby teeth, and they have those gross missing teeth smiles. If I had to look at one more kid twisting a loose tooth around this weekend, I was going to vomit.
I'll hear more of what's going on tomorrow (when some other friends with more details come visit us - the 3rd friend, the cheater in the marriage with no kids, was supposed to come with them and when they found out what was going on they decided they didn't really want to spend 3 days with him, and I can't say I blame them) but I suspect reconciliation is out. The dude that was cheated on didn't initially get back together with her, but then he got cancer a year or two later, and she really seemed like she was there for him, and he gave her another shot. I'm guessing he won't be so forgiving this time, but who knows, now that kids are involved. I just can't believe them. The enormity of their selfishness blows my mind.
