New Year's plans?

I am home, still in PJ's, Abby's finally asleep and I really should be in the shower, cleaning, doing laundry, etc  :-)  Instead, I'm procrastinating and putzing.

What's everyone doing for New Year's?  Our usually partners in crime are in VT or in NY for the holiday :-(

I did hear of a Portland Pirates Kid friendly NYE celebration with fireworks inside, etc.  Sounded like a lot of fun.

  • hopefully we will be back in the house by then, so Chinese and a movie or two.. if not at the inlaws with Chinese and watching the ball drop :)

  • Probably nothing.  We aren't big fans of NYE and with James, we're even less likely to do anything.  We used to have a couple or two of friends come up or we'd go down to MA to have an evening of good food and going to bed by 12:30, but that's gone with kids.  Last year my parents came up and we ate and played games and hung at home.

This year I suspect we'll just have a nice dinner, a movie, and then maybe go to bed before midnight hits!!!

I was thinking it would be fun to have a fake New Years party with Nesties where we ring in "midnight" at like 7 or 8, but I don't want to host it and I don't think I even want to go out.  Maybe next year!

  • We're headed back out of town...sigh.  I'm looking forward to a weekend in Philly for "faux Christmas" with my family (my folks, sisters, and BILs basically pretend that it's Christmas day at my parents house and do presents, pjs, etc.)...I'm just not looking forward to the travel portion.  We leave Thursday after work and do faux Christmas on NYE day.  We may hit the 6pm fireworks, but mostly we'll be eating and opening presents all day.

  • ? think we may do something with my brother and SIL. It's tough with Luke and well, I'm pregnant, so nothing too big. Probably at our house since they don't have cable.

  • Honestly, I'll probably be asleep by midnight!  I'm supposed to be in Camden the next morning for a 5K and I don't want to be dragging tooooo badly for that.

Because I'm an uber nerd, I've already written a new year's blog post which is ready to post that day, so I guess that will be my only real celebration.  I'm totally okay with that this year though.  Just not really feeling up to going out I guess!!

  • Dh and I never really do anything too big on New Year's. When we lived in Portland we would go to the Old Port. The last few years we have gone to our friends' house up north and hung out and spent the night. However they have a newborn baby, so doubt that is an option now. Last year we were in NY celebrating late Christmas with my family. We went to NYC New Year's weekend, but it was the 2nd or something so it was after the ball drop and all that stuff. Not sure what we will do this year. Probably just stay home and watch the festivities on TV. Maybe we'll go out to dinner or something too. Not sure really.
  • I don't love NYE either... we're actually going to a friend's house in Scarborough and will stay overnight with them and they're having a party at their place. We never do anything so this will be a bit different! I hope I can stay awake!
  • Hang around the house.  DD will go to bed at 8 and DH will probably go to bed at 10.  I'll likely stay up until midnight and drink champagne by myself while watching the *** Clark special.  Exciting times.

  • Well, 3 years ago we would party with our friends till 3-4am in Boston. Then I got sick and spent NYE in the hospital, then I was pregnant and now I'm just tired. So, I think yummy food and chilling until we fall asleep will be our plans (and we'll probably be asleep way before the ball drops) Woohoo good times :P
  • Marcus is going to have a sleep over with my mom, so we're going to go out to a nice (early) dinner and then go see Black Swan.  There's a newish Italian-Greek restaurant in Brunswick, Trattoria Athena, that I've been wanting to go to.  We'll probably be in bed before midnight, but it'll be nice to do some baby-less things and sleep late the next day.

  • Low key.  Dh's cousin is coming with his GF.  We will likely have a few friends over.  Play some Wii, have some beer (or root beer for me).  No point in going out to a bar to pay $20 for parking and $10 cover.  Plus I am not going to want to go to bars and stay out late.  I get too damn bored.  I like parties at my house.  Can go to bed whenever I want!

  • I haven't thought much about it because I'm pregnant, old & lame  ;o).  I am working that day, and then DH & I will probably get Chinese that night and watch a movie.  Don't be jealous!

  • I love the fact that I am not the ONLY one who just wants to be low key on NYE.  I am headed to Bangor in the AM on NYE so Taylor can get her 9m pics done.  I'm hoping to meet up with some friends from HS and hang out with them and their LO.  Then for dinner, late dinner at least, I am meeting some work friends for dinner.  One of my friends bdays is NYE and mine is Jan 2 so we celebrate together.  Probably will be Chili's and I'll have one too many margarita's (T will be with my mom).  I'll stay in Bangor for the night and Chris will come up NYD to have Christmas with my family.  Hoping a HS friend will be home from San Fran by then (he and his wife are driving) and we could meet up with them for a few minutes before we head home.  Then I'm working OT on my Bday.  Busy weekend

  • Our plans this year are to head to Foxwoods. Not normally my cup of tea, since I'm not a fan of losing money...  However, the point of us going this time is for the Sarah McLachlin concert on the evening of the 1st!!!  She's the last of my top 3 to see in concert - DMB and BNL are the others, love them!

Unfortunately, this "package deal" comes with time spent with the gambling addict friend (who was able to get our 2 tickets free, due to his gambling) BIL and SIL (who stole our spotlight by having a disgustingly extravagant wedding 2.5 months after our budget wedding, and who have now announced that they're pregnant too - after only a home pregnancy test). And, the 5 of us are all staying in one room the whole weekend.  Party!!!

I have very mixed emotions about the weekend... Confused

  • I am boooring for New Years.  I swear one of my highlights was bringing it in at LLBean, with the kids band who were singing about cheeseburgers.  The countdown was at 8pm and we had warm chocolate chip cookies.  And then we went home and went to bed.  Ahh, perfection.

  • I am thinking Chinese food and a movie as well.  I may start drinking early though since I will be at home and have the whole day to do nothing Big Smile

We have Christmas at DHs mom's on NYD.  Shitastic Chinese Auction, here I come!

  • We are actually going to Hollywood Slots this year! We usually love just hanging out, ordering Chinese, and watching movies, but we are hoping that by next New Year's I'll either be pregnant or have a baby and then won't care to go out on New Year's again for awhile. My DH loves the slots(dork) and he never goes or spends a lot so he really wanted to. My FIL and MIL are going and are being our DD's haha  a couple of our friends are going too. It should be a decent time-though I hate to "waste" money on the slots so I guess I'll just be drinking haha
