Is anyone making any resolutions or goals for next year? If so, what are they?
How do you plan on accomplishing them?
My resolution is to be more pro-active with the daily chores. I let things sit, thinking that I have the whole weekend to clean around the house. Well, turns out our weekends are very busy, so I'm not getting as much done as I'd like. So, I'm going to start setting a timer for 30 minutes every night when I get home from work to focus on straightening up. I'm also going to do all the dishes from dinner as soon as dinner is finished.
My goal for next year is to read 50 books. I used to read so much, but I have barely found the time to read this past year. When DH is on the computer at night, I'm going to start reading instead of just vegging out on the couch, watching some mindless show on tv.
Re: Resolutions for 2011
DX: PCOS/Recurrent losses/MTHFR mutation (compound hetero)
5 hysteroscopies/2 surgical
3 Inject IUIs = 2 m/c's and 1 BFN
IVF #1= BFP. m/c at 7w6d. Needed 2 D&C's and scar tissue removal. Mild OHSS
IVF #2 = BFP. Severe OHSS. 4 Drainings. TWINS!
I hear you on that! I quit smoking about 3 years ago. It was rough. Have you tried chantix? I've heard good things about it.
I like that reading one. I resolve to take 5 of my arch licensure exams this next year. I resolve to get more fit, weight is fine but I want more stamina and strength. I resolve to take my vitamins daily and to be better flossing.
All these are do-able, I just have to get started.
To save more money a month, and to lose at least 20 pounds.
I think they both can be partially accomplished by eating out less & meal planning. If we plan our meals in advance, we're more likely to eat at home every night and in general we eat healthier when we eat at home.
Going along with the losing weight, I want to get into a workout routine. The doctor thinks that working out and losing weight will help with some potential fertility problems she was seeing.
Usually these are things you do before the wedding, but...I'm backwards like that.
Last year I gave up soda and it was the first resolution I kept!
I am going to make a resolution to be a better guest and bring something with me each time we go to ILs house or my parents house for dinner, even if it is a just a bottle of wine (I work for a wine company so I have these laying around all the time!)
Also I am going to make it a point to call friends each week to catch up and chat. Not the same friends each time, but hopefully this will get me to each of them once a month minimum!
I am on board with the reading resolution. I am so in need. I got an English degree, for Pete's sake, and I never read books anymore! I am going to read a little each night and set some "reading dates" where I just enjoy reading as an activity again (as a child, nothing was more fun for me than sitting in bed on a Saturday morning with my nose in a book!).
Love the resolution regarding being a better guest too. Think I'll give that one a try.
I need to come up with a reading resolution as well. I have an English degree, and I still read through undergrad, but my Master's program killed any desire I have to read (irony!). I really miss having my face smooshed in a book every waking moment like I did as a kid and a teenager.

I dont like taking pills or medicines if I dont have to. But it may come down to it. I have been smoking for 15 years so its not like it will be a cakewalk for me.
Hopefully once i am pregnant, I will never want to smoke again.
I have seriously cut back, its just a matter of completely cutting it out of my life.

Yep, totally relate jnc! Isn't it sad how school can squeeze the love of books out of even the most devoted bookworms? I think reading what we want to read will help bring some joy back into it. Good luck!
Scarlett I also have been working on being more pro-active in my cleaning as well and I found a method that works REALLY well for me, so I thought I'd share. I set up what I refer to as my "Morning Five" and my "Evening Three". So long as these items are done every night I have more time to sit down and spend with my TAH. Because I work from home, my morning five include getting ready because it's so easy to just slug around in my PJ's all day.
Something my parents decided to do, so they didn't find themselves cleaning on Saturdays, every Saturday, is designate a specific day each week for tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, glass/mirrors, mop floors, clean bathrooms, etc. And every week, on that date, they run through and do that item. So, for example, every Tuesday they vacuum the entire house and every Wednesday they dust...it helps to break down the long list of chores into segments so they seem more attainable every night. And come the following Monday, the same run-through repeats itself.
Yoga. I exercise a lot, but for some reason just can't get into yoga. But I think it would complement the other stuff I do, so I want to really try. Also swimming. We have a pool, so there's no reason not to (well, right now it's too cold), but I'm lazy about dealing with my hair after swimming LOL! DH has offered me scuba diving lessons, so swimming regularly would help.
Staying in touch with friends is also a big one. I want to be a lot more proactive about inviting people over or meeting up. The wedding made me realize how much I love a lot of the people I don't get to see often.
