and it's not even a vent, it's just something that annoys me. (and the fact that it bothers me at all is laughable)
twister prefers lars.
1. the cat wouldn't even be ALIVE if it weren't for me.
2. i did the majority of the "nursing" care during those first critical weeks of his life
3. i'm the one who scoops his litterbox and does most of his feedings now.
it just grates on me that when we're sitting on the couch, he goes to lars. at night, he sleeps on lars' pillow. ungrateful little shiit.
i just want him to snuggle with me! of course, i'm also the one who enforces the rules (tell him to get off the counter and squirt him with water if he doesn't.)
i've taken to calling lars the animal whisperer because all the animals in the house like him best (except our other cat who doesn't like anyone). i think it's because he's always spoiling them with scraps of food (which he is of course not supposed to do). either that or he is walking around with a ham bone in one pocket and a fish filet in the other. ![]()
Re: really dumb vent about twister (our cat)
I hear ya! Hank prefers Derek even though I do everything. Rupert prefers anyone who pays attention to him so it is a tie for him.
How is your dog doing since the surgery??
taylor is healing slowly. his soft cast is off and he will occasionally put a little weight on that leg. he's still not allowed to do stairs. he still has his staples in both his hips and his one knee. he's still wearing the cone of shame to prevent him from licking the sutures.
as proof he is feeling much better, he apparently tried to hump our neighbors 75 pound golden last night. (and he's a 35 pound cocker/springer mix)
Poor boy! I hope he continues to heal and is back to his usual self soon.
LOL! I am glad he is feeling well enough to attempt that. : )
We have a cat just like this, only she prefers me. Comes out of hiding when I walk through the door, scratches at my bedroom door (as opposed to DD) in the mornings, lounges on me, meows at me for love... DH couldn't care less, however, DD is SUPER annoyed by it. I think it hurts her feelings as she cleans the litter boxes and does evening feeding. But I didn't do anything to make her feel that way towards me. I can't help it. I love it (she is my snugglebug), but I didn't do anything to earn it.
I think animals just tend to pick one human as their favorite. Our dogs favor DH. They barely look at DD and me.
Ugh, I understand your frustrations. My rabbit (Dwight) does the same thing! He looooves DH despite the fact that I do all of the caretaking for him. I rescued him, feed him, give him treats, clean his cage, give him water, but no, the second DH enters the room, it's as if I'm not even there. Dwight prefers to be pet and loved by Luke when he gets a choice. I'm sure this is how it will be when we get a dog in a couple of years because DH will NOT do any disciplining, and that will all fall on me, making me the bad guy...
Hopefully Twister will turn around soon and start to enjoy cuddling with you for a change!
You never know though - I am the "bad" parent who enforces rules and my dog totally is a mama's girl.
She follows me around the house - even when I'm doing stuff that keeps me moving around and will persist in doing it even if DH is sitting on the couch in one spot. She listens to me much better too.
I'm glad that there is hope after all! Looking back to my old family dog growing up, Moose would listen best to my dad and followed him everywhere, although he was the dog disciplinarian in our house. Makes sense that a dog would love and have a devotion to their pack leader, even if they have to be the "bad" parent :-) Thanks, Wittyshaffy!
