If you have a crossover

Tell me about it. DH and I are currently looking at getting another car. We have a Nissan Sentra right now but want a crossover that we can take on trips when we go down South. DH's truck is 10 years old and I don't trust it to even make it into the city. I would like a bigger car than our Sentra so we can pack more and take our dog with us.

Right now we are looking at the Equinox but wanted suggestions on what other people think about thier crossovers. Thanks!

I had an equinox before I got my truck. I *loved* it. I think the new ones are even nicer and they get great gas mileage.

We did some browsing yesterday and looked at the Equinox and the Acadia. I've always loved the Equinox but once we were in one I realized how small they are. DH was crammed in the driver's seat, but the backseat leg room seemed good. He wouldn't sit in the back though lol. The gas mileage is great and I still like them, but I don't think it's the vehicle for us.

Then we looked at the Acadia--I freaking love it. It's roomy, has 3rd row seating and storage space, good head room, and the front seat area was more spacious. DH admitted that it was bigger than he thought, but he still thinks it's too small--he's pretty set on us getting another truck--so, unless your DH is as stubborn as mine is, he would probably like the Acadia

My FIL just bought an Equinox so I've sat in the back and it's actually about the same size as our little car. We are still considering it but we might also look at the Transverse. It has an additional 2 seats but we haven't actaully gone and looked at it yet. We'll look at the Acadia while we're at it. Thanks!

Did your hubby feel cramped in the drivers seat of the Acadia? I didn't feel like it was that much bigger than the equinox. We looked at the traverse too and I still felt squished in it. That's how we ended up with the truck lol.

Yeah, I'm sad the Equinox isn't bigger b/c I really like it! We looked at the Traverse too but didn't get in or anything. Something about the body just doesn't do it for me. Definitely check out the Acadia, and if you get one take me for a ride! Stick out tongue

He said it was roomier than he thought it would be, so I guess maybe he wasn't quite as cramped? He still thinks it's too small though. We'll probably end up with the crew cab truck--we both love it, but my only issue is with getting a carseat and baby in and out of the backseat. Since I'm so short I feel like I'll have to literally crawl up in the back to get the baby in and out...maybe I'm crazy?

Glad to know that's why you went with the truck though, to me the Acadia was SO roomy, but I'm a short person so it's hard for me to see the other perspective on that issue. Smile

My H just got a 3/4 ton crew cab and I dreed the thought of putting a car seat in the back since I'm short too. I have driven a Traverse and loved it and by H had enough room. The Acadia is the GMC version of the Traverse. They both have the same cargo as a Tahoe/Yukon just not the head room plus better gas mileage. If I were to buy brand new I would go with the Traverse/Acadia if I were going used it would be Tahoe/Yukon. When we were in Scottsdale last Jan our rental was a Equinox and I was so not impressed, I liked the 1st equinoxes better than the new ones. My MIL had an 08 equinox and it seemed to have more room than the new ones.

I love, love, love my equinox. I bought the 05 when it came out and currently have an 08. I am a medical sales rep and have a little one and I can carry around a lot of crap in that little car. It's a wonderful vehicle.

We're about to start car shopping as well, and we're looking at the Equinox (H's favorite), Honda CRV, and the GMC Terrain (my favorite--GMC's version of the Equinox). And if we find a good deal, I won't rule out a Jeep Grand Cherokee either. I like smaller SUVs that get better gas mileage than the larger ones.

My grandparents have a GMC Terrain and it's seriously the cutest thing I've ever seen. It has a TON of room in the back seat--just as much as my Expedition. Theirs is cromed out and has TVs in the headrests...all the bells and whistles and they only paid low 30s for it. I'd totally get one if I were looking for a small SUV/crossover type vehicle.

I saw one that had all that at the Texas State Fair (sticker price was close to $40,000 though since it had everything!). I had seen a few around before that, but up close I really, really liked it (especially the chrome package and the black leather... gorgeous!). We'll see though--even though that's my choice, DH might force me to be practical. Sigh.

If the Equinox was too tight, the Terrain probably will be too since they're essentially the exact same thing.. built on the same lines and all that. It's smaller than the Acadia.

That's what I was afraid of since they look about the same from the outside, but it's difficult to know what the inside will be like KWIM? Maybe we can install a step ladder to the side of the truck? *sigh*

If you haven't checked out the Nissan Murano, you certainly should! My mom has one (orange!) and I looooove it. It drives nice and smooth like a car, but has SO MUCH room. It seats 5. We just drove it to San Antonio Tuesday and got back today. It was packed full of 5 people and all of our luggage and we still had all kinds of wiggle room. Another major plus is that it's got a lot of foot-room in the back seat. When I look for something new, that is going to be one on the top of my list.
