Landlines (Clicky Poll)

Larissa saying her client might get her home phone number caused me to wonder who still has landlines in this group.

Re: Landlines (Clicky Poll)

  • As always, I special snowflaked on my own poll- we technically have a home phone number that we pay for, but we don't have a phone plugged in. Our internet service is through the phone company in the nearest town, and they require home phone service as part of their plan. $10/mo- I might as well plug in a phone!

  • We're cell phone only right now, but we're thinking about hooking up our security system, which I believe requires a landline.

  • We have a land line, but only DH uses it.  I'm strictly cell phone; DH only has one of those buy-the-minutes cell phones that he never uses.

  • We only have a landline because why do we need a cellphone.

  • We've got both, but the landline is for internet, security, and directtv. We rarely use the home phone.

Interesting way to think about it.

What if you're driving and there is an emergency? Do you have a mobile phone in your car?

  • We just disconnected our landline a few months ago.  Only calls we ever received were telemarketers and we rarely used it ourselves.

  • My parents still have a landline, but only my dad, sis and I call it [since we have crappy cell phone reception here]. I don't have a landline and don't plan to get one unless we need it for Internet or something.

  • When I lived with roommates, they insisted on getting a landline. We all three had our own cell phones, though, so we never used it. If it rang, it was either a telemarketer or a wrong number because we never gave out that number. Such a waste of money!

  • I'm old fashioned, still use cell mostly when out, landline in the house. Got used to that at the old place, which had horrible cell service. Also, landline phone is much more comfy on the ear and lends itself better to using the shoulder to hold it and letting my hands be free. I'm a big multitasker.
  • Cell phones only. We are thinking about getting a security system in the near future which requires a landline, I think. Ughhh I love not having a landline.

  • we have a landline at the new place. i don't even know what the number is. it's basically free w/ our cable and internet for the first year and i wanted the security of a landline w/ the baby coming. cell phones aren't always reliable. what if someone is babysitting and forgot their cell phone, etc.
